THE WELLINGTON CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that at a duly convened extraordinary meeting of members of the above society held at the society’s office, Wellington, on Friday, the 4th day of May, 1923, the following extraordinary resolution was passed :—

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the society cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that accordingly the society be wound up voluntarily ; and that Mr. D. McKAY, Public Accountant, Wellington, be and is hereby appointed Liquidator.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

THE Partnership hitherto subsisting between WILLIAM WILKINSON ORR and ALFRED MAYLOR, under the style of “Wilkinson, Orr, and Co,” and carrying on business as Customhouse and Shipping Agents in the City of Wellington, has been dissolved as from this date. The business will continue to be carried on by the said WILLIAM WILKINSON ORR, who will discharge all the debts and liabilities of the said firm.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Methven Trotting Club at a meeting held on the 16th day of April, 1923, at Methven, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. J. McAnulty, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. J. McAnulty, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. H. Nicholls seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :—

METHVEN TROTTING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Methven Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Mount Harding Racecourse, situated in the district of Mount Hutt, and known as the Mount Harding Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “trotting club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Methven Trotting Club were made and passed by such club on the 16th day of April, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary meeting of the above-mentioned company duly convened and held at the offices of Messieurs Milner and Neale, Hardy Street, Nelson, on Monday, the seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, the following extraordinary resolution was passed :—

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily.”

And also that EDGAR ROLLO NEALE, of Hardy Street, Nelson, Accountant, was at the same meeting duly appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

Dated this ninth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three.

And the said petition is directed to be heard at the Supreme Court, Wellington, before a Judge of the said Court, on the 25th day of May, 1923, at 10.30 o’clock in the forenoon; and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous of opposing the making of an order for the winding-up of the
