THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
reserves described in the Schedule hereto are hereby changed from sites for public buildings or other purposes of the General Government to reserves for municipal purposes. And I do hereby further declare that this notice is issued subject to the provisions of section seven of the said Act, and shall take effect according to the provisions of that section.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECTIONS 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, Town Block I, Town of Cobden : Area, 1 acre 2 roods 32 perches. Also Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Town Block II, Town of Cobden : Area, 1 acre 2 roods 18 perches.

Opening Land in the Canterbury Land District for Sale or Selection.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the sixteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waipara County.-Teviotdale Survey District.
SECTION 35157, Block III : Area, 445 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £3,400. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent, £85. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £68. Weighted with £24, valuation for sixty chains of fencing, which must be paid in cash.
The section consists of deep gullies and wide spurs which could be ploughed. Portion has been roughly grassed, and in its present state would pasture about 440 sheep, but with cultivation would carry more. Access is by formed road partly metalled, eight miles from Waipara to within one mile of run, and a formed road gives access to within three miles of section on the other side.
SPECIAL CONDITION.-The Department will not hold itself liable for the improvement of the present road access.

Opening Settlement Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the tenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.-SETTLEMENT LAND.
Takaka County.-Takaka Survey District.-Spittal Settlement. SECTION 44, Block III : Area, 54 acres 3 roods 24 perches ; capital value, £845 ; half-yearly rent, £19 0s. 3d.
Situated about three miles and a half from Takaka Township by good metalled road, one mile and a half from creamery, two miles from post-office, and one mile from a school. The section comprises all flat land, and is subdivided into five paddocks. Forty acres are inclined to be stony, the balance at the back of the section is swampy. A large portion has been cultivated, but has been allowed to go back into weeds. The soil is of a light and stony nature. Section is indifferently watered by a well and a swamp.
Improvements.-The improvements on the section, and which are included in the capital value, are as follows : Old six-roomed two-storied house, barn 14 ft. by 30 ft., and 120 chains fencing.
Murchison County.-Howard Survey District.-Lake Settlement.
Sections 2, Block XI, 5, Block XI, and 6, Block XVI : Area, 4,508 acres ; capital value, £4,450 ; half-yearly rent, £100 2s. 6d.; interest and sinking fund, £37 14s. 4d.*
- Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £940 ; payable in cash, or in twenty years by forty half-yearly payments of £37 14s. 4d. Total half-yearly payment on lease, £137 16s. 10d.
Improvements.-The improvements included in the capital value of the sections consist of fencing valued at £184.
The improvements which are not included in the capital value of the land, but which must be paid for separately, comprise buildings, &c., valued at £940.
DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS.
Section 2, Block XI.-About 900 acres open, in fern, grass, tussock, and manuka scrub; soil light and stony along frontage, but mostly ploughable. Remainder birch hills, of fair quality. Good aspect; well watered. Access by good dray-road to cart-bridge.
