tion 16 aforesaid to and up the middle of the Mangaone Stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 4 on plan No. 659, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington ; then along the said south-eastern boundary to and across the Waitotara Road and along the western boundaries of Lots 14 and 17 on plan No. 918 deposited as aforesaid to trig. station on Orangihoangi ; then along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Section 11, Block XIV, Momahaki Survey District, and along the production of the last-named boundary to the middle of the Mangamingi Stream ; then down the middle of that stream and up the middle of Te Korokio Stream, and along the western and northern boundaries of the Manganui-o-Tahu Block to Watershed Road near trig. station on Taurangapiopio ; then to the middle of that road and northerly along the middle of that road and Pipiriki and Pokeka Roads, and along the summit of the range, passing through trig. station on Maungarau to the trig. station on Mount Humphries ; then north-easterly along a right line, running in the direction of the confluence of the Tangarakau and Wanganui Rivers, to its first intersection with the said Wanganui River ; then to and down the middle of that river and up the middle of the Paparoa Stream in Block XI, Tauakira Survey District, to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 9, Block XI, Tauakira Survey District ; then to and along the said south-eastern boundary, and along the south-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block XI, the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block XII, the southern boundary of Section 1, Block IX, Ngamatea Survey District, and the south-western boundary of Ohotu No. 9 Block and its production to the middle of the Mangawhero River ; then down the middle of that river and up the middle of the Rangitatau Stream to Fields Track crossing ; then along the middle of Fields Track in a north-easterly direction generally to the middle of the stream forming the north-eastern boundary of Ohotu No. 6A No. 1 Block ; then down the middle of that stream and up the middle of the Wangaehu River to the northern boundary of Block IV, Ngamatea Survey District ; then easterly along that boundary and the northern boundaries of Blocks I and II, Maungakaretu Survey District, to the middle of the Turakina River, and up that river to the northern boundary of the Raketapauma No. 3A Block ; then easterly along the northern boundaries of the Raketapauma Nos. 3A, 1A, 1C, and 1I Blocks to the middle of the Waiouru-Moawhango Road ; then northerly along that road to its junction with the Tokaanu Road at Waiouru ; then north-easterly along a right line to Totem Trig. Station and a right line to Aua-hitotara Trig. Station ; then southerly along a right line to Trig. Station 16 and a right line to Trig. Station 32 ; then westerly along a right line to the junction of the Panemango and the Tomakomako Streams ; then up the middle of the Panemango Stream to and along the southern boundary of Ruanui No. 2 Block ; then along the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block X, Maungakaretu Survey District, to the middle of the Turakina River ; then along a right line to the Maungakaretu Trig. Station on the summit of the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River ; then in a south-westerly direction generally by lines from hill to hill along the summit of that watershed to and along a right line which runs in a north-westerly direction through trig. station on Okaipe (Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District) to a point in the middle of the Wangaehu River due west about eighteen chains from the western boundary of Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District ; then down the middle of the said river to the sea ; then in a north-westerly direction along the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fees, &c., Wellington Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1923 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Wellington Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the following imported game and native game—viz., cock pheasants, hares, Californian quail, Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck (or shoveller), black teal, and black swan ; and the period from the 1st day of February to the 31st day of March, 1924 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game (including godwits) within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill the following native game only—viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each ; and the secretary of the Wellington Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twenty head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck (or shoveller), black teal, and black swan.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game (including godwits), or native game only (including godwits), shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported and native game (including godwits), or native game only (including godwits), on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun ; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

  5. Nothing in this Warrant shall apply to hares in the County of Akito, wherein these animals are not protected.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Wangaehu River, and proceeding thence up the middle of that river to a point due west about 18 chains from the western boundary of Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District ; then along a right line through Okaipe Trig. Station to the summit of the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River ; then north-westerly by lines from hill to hill along that summit to the Maungakaretu Trig. Station ; then south-easterly along a right line to a point in the middle of the Turakina River in line with the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block X, Maungakaretu Survey District ; then along that boundary, the southern boundary of the Ruanui No. 2 Block, and down the centre of the Panemango Stream to its confluence with the Tomakomako Stream ; then easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 32 ; then northerly along a right line to Trig. Station 16, a right line to Trig. Station 17 (Auahitotara), a right line to Trig. Station 24 (Te Rotete), and a right line to Trig. Station 28 (Manukaiapu) ; then easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 27 and a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 26 (Tawaki Tohunga) to its intersection with the middle of the Rangitikei River ; then down the middle of that river to its intersection with a right line between Trig. Stations 32 and 30 (Aorangi), and easterly along the said right line to Trig. Station 30 ; then along a right line in the direction of the confluence of the northern branch of the Waipawa River with the Makaroro River to the summit of the Ruahine Range ; then southerly along the summit of the said range to the source of the Pourangaki Stream, and down that stream to its confluence with the Kawhatau Stream, down the middle of the said Kawhatau Stream to its confluence with the Rangitikei River ; then down the middle of the Rangitikei River to the Awahuri-Bull’s Road, and easterly along that road to the Oroua River ; then up the middle of the Oroua River to the Wellington–New Plymouth Railway line ; then south-easterly along said railway-line and Stony Creek Road to the Palmerston-Ashhurst Road ; then north-easterly along that road to the northernmost corner of Section 454, Block VIII, Kairanga Survey District ; then south-easterly along the Raukawa Road fronting Sections 454 and 455 of the said block to the centre of the Manawatu River ; then up the middle of that river to and along the northern boundary of the Wellington Land District to the mouth of the Waimata River ; then southerly along the sea-coast to Cape Palliser, westerly generally along the sea-coast to Cape Terawhiti, and northerly along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Wangaehu River, the point of commencement : including all adjacent islands except Kapiti.
