The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 949, as against 1,101 in January—a decrease of 152. The deaths in February were 397, a decrease of 49 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 203, females 194. Fifty-three of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 13·35 per cent. of the whole number. Forty-three of these were under one year of age.
