Amended Regulations under the Education Act, 1914, relating to Training
Colleges.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, the 19th day of December,
1922.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the Education Act, 1914, and the amendments of that Act, and
all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excel-
lency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments set out in the Schedule
hereto in the regulations at present in force relating to training colleges
(hereinafter referred to as "the said regulations"), and doth prescribe
that this Order shall come into force on the date of the publication
thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR TRAINING COLLEGES.
Clause 11 of the said regulations is hereby amended by revoking
subclause (2), and substituting therefor the following:-
"(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division A shall be at
the rate of £105 a year for a male and £100 for a female student, together
with the fees of the university college classes attended by the student
with the approval of the Principal. The allowances under this subclause
are subject to a reduction of £12 under the Public Expenditure
Adjustment Act, and may be further reduced after 1st January, 1923.
"(3.) In the case of a student who is obliged to live away from home
or his usual place of residence in order to attend the training college
there shall be paid to the Board controlling the college an allowance of
£30 per annum, and the Board may at its discretion, either
"(a.) Provide board and residence in a hostel under its control at a
charge to the student of not more than £25 per annum in
addition to the £30 boarding-allowance; or
"(b.) Pay to the student the boarding-allowance of £30 per annum,
provided that the place of board and residence is approved
by the Board on the recommendation of the Principal.
"(4.) In the case of a student who lives at home but is obliged to
travel more than four miles daily each way in order to attend the
training college there may be paid the actual cost of travelling (not
exceeding £10 per annum)."
Clause 12 of the said regulations is hereby amended by revoking
subclause (2), and substituting therefor the following:-
"(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division B shall be
those set out in subclauses (2), (3), and (4) of subclause (11) hereof for a
student in Division A, except that the allowance provided in subclause (2)
shall be £85 for a male and £80 for a female student.
