Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of Wanganui of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the Borough of Wanganui, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, tobacco, cigarettes, walking-sticks, and smokers' sundries—be prohibited during such times as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of January, 1923, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of Wanganui shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays after the hour of 6 p.m., on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) on the working-day immediately preceding any of the following days, viz., Boxing Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, and any day which pursuant to a Proclamation by the Governor-General or declaration by the Government, or on the request of the Mayor or Chairman of the local authority, is generally observed as a public holiday or half-holiday, after the hour-of 9 p.m.; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding each day of the Wanganui Agricultural Show, the Wanganui Jockey Club’s races, and the Wanganui Trotting Club's races, after the hour of 9 p.m.; (3) on the last fourteen working-days in the month of December (except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve), after the hour of 9 p.m.; (4) on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, after the hour of 11 p.m.

Revocation of Private Hospital License.
CHRISTOPHER JAMES PARR, the Minister of the Crown charged with the administration of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, do hereby, in pursuance of the provisions of section 116, subsection (2), and section 122, subsection (1), of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, revoke the license issued to Mrs. S. C. Funnell, of Otorohanga, under the aforesaid Act, for the keeping of a private hospital situated at Otorohanga, the said revocation to take effect from the 20th December, 1922.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Wellington Merchant Service Pursers’ Association Industrial Union of Workers, registered No. 1175, situated at Wellington, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—DREDGER AT WORK.

Wellington, N.Z., 8th January, 1923.
THE Auckland Harbour Board notify that the dredger "Hapai" is now working at a position 500 ft., N. 45° E. (approximately) from the north-east corner of King's Wharf.
The dredger has moorings laid out to the north, north-east, south-east, south-west, and north-west, and will be working in this locality for the next two months.
Mariners are cautioned to exercise care when in the vicinity of the dredger.
