“Clothing Gratuities.—The following rates of clothing gratuities will be payable on the occasions specified :—
“(a.) To a petty officer dressed as a seaman (Class II) promoted to chief petty officer

“(b.) To a petty officer or other rating dressed as a seaman (Class II) required to change his uniform to Class III

“(c.) To a petty officer dressed as a seaman on transfer to the regulating branch

“(d.) To an artificer, 5th class, on being rated acting 4th class

“(e.) To a rating required to change his uniform from Class III to Class II

“(No gratuity will be paid when the transfer is made on account of misconduct).
“(f.) To a regulating petty officer on promotion to master-at-arms, towards cost of frock coat and sword

“(g.) To officers’ chief, 1st, and 2nd class stewards and cooks (direct entries), on first entry

7. Cancel paragraph 1 of regulation No. 51, and substitute :— “Ratings on loan or transferred permanently to the New Zealand Division will be entitled to a free passage out and Home, unless proceeding by man-of-war. The right to a passage Home will, however, be forfeited by desertion, provided such deserter is not retained in the Naval Forces for more than three calendar months after the expiration of any punishment that may be inflicted for such offence, or, in the case of a man on loan, provided his services are no longer required either by the New Zealand Naval Board or by the Admiralty, after the expiration of not more than six calendar months from the date of the expiration of any such punishment.”
8. In Appendix II, under heading “Ship’s Cook Ratings,” for “Probationary assistant cook” substitute “Assistant cook (under 18 years of age).”
Under heading “Officers’ Stewards and Cooks ” cancel all references to Officers’ stewards and cooks 3rd class, and substitute—
“Officers’ steward and cook, 4th class (over 18).. 5 0 “Officers’ steward and cook, 3rd class .. 6 6 “After three years’ man’s service .. 6 8 “After 6 years’ man’s service .. 6 10

Declaring Land in the Otago Land District to be subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section seventy-nine of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare “that the several areas of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and shall hereafter form part of the Teviot Settlement.
SCHEDULE.
First, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 175 acres 0 roods 38 perches, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in the Teviot Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by Run 199D, 2067·3 links; towards the east generally by Run 638, 12858·6 links; and towards the south-west by Section 1, Block VI, Benger Survey District, 12122·7 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Secondly, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,230 acres, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in the Teviot and Benger Survey Districts, and bounded as follows: Towards the north generally by the river-bank reserve along the south bank of the Teviot River, 21000 links; towards the east generally by Run 602, 12838 links; by a public road, 570·6 links and 7087·6 links; again towards the north by said public road, 3369·2 links; and again generally towards the east by said public road, 17885·4 links, and by Run 603, 5443·6 links; towards the south generally by Run 200, 7341·3 links; and towards the south-west by Section 1, Block V, Benger Survey District, and Section 1, Block VI, Teviot Survey District, 49168·7 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: and excepting from the above-described area two intersecting roads each 100 links wide, a deduction for which has been made from the area.
Thirdly, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 30 acres 1 rood 12 perches, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in Block VII, Benger Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the western corner of Section 31, Block VII, Benger Survey District;
thence by said Section 31, 162° 49' 30", 893·1 links; 113° 13', 1984·2 links ; by a road to be closed, 244° 59', 1866·5 links; by a road to be closed and a public road, 308° 47', 1828·1 links; again by a road to be closed, 38° 47', 1642·2 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Fourthly, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 20 acres 1 rood 10 perches, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in Block VII, Benger Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the southern corner of Section 31, Block VII, Benger Survey District; thence by a road to be closed, 287° 8' 30", 2592·7 links; 308° 47', 980·9 links ; by a public road, 64° 59', 1190·7 links; by said Section 31, a railway reserve, and again by said Section 31, 131° 3', 2871·5 links, to the point of commencement : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Fifthly, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 8 perches, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in Block VII, Benger Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the eastern corner of Section 31, Block VII, Benger Survey District; thence by Section 4 of said Block VII, 115° 26' 30", 436·1 links; by a road to be closed, 267° 51', 547·3 links ; and by said Section 31, 36° 22', 258·2 links, to the point of commencement : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Sixthly, all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being a piece of Crown land in Block VII, Benger Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by a road to be closed, 107° 8' 30", 1517·3 links ; and towards the south and west by a public road, 280° 15', 1108·9 links, and 304° 52', 437·1 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
As the same are delineated on plans marked “Proclamation No. 1977,” deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, and edged pink.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 24th day of August, 1922.

Opening Town Lands in Westland Land District for election on Renewable Lease.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the town lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the sixteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
