farthest sections is about thirty-three miles. The road is formed to within a short distance of the northern boundary, and provision has been made for continuing the formation of necessary roads of access to all the sections. Access may also be obtained to the majority of the sections from Putaruru Railway-station on the Rotorua line, the distance varying from about nineteen to twenty miles.
The land in Blocks VIII and XII is mostly flat to easy undulating, somewhat broken in places, and partly covered with forest comprising principally tawa, matai, rimu, and a few scattered totara trees, with a fairly thick undergrowth of supplejack, raurekau, mahoe, punga, &c. The soil is mostly of a light loamy nature, mixed with pumice in parts, the whole resting on a sandstone or rhyolite formation. The open country is capable of early development, the locality generally being suitable for dairying. The bush land and areas adjacent thereto are generally of better quality. The open sections at the southern end of the block are broken, and will require considerable expenditure to develop. Most of the sections are well watered by streams. The altitude ranges from 350 ft. to 1,950 ft. above sea-level.
NOTE.--Areas subject to slight alteration.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 3rd day of July, 1922.
