NOTICE is hereby given that at meetings of the company held on the 15th day of May, 1922, and the 30th day of May, 1922, a resolution was passed that the company be wound up voluntarily.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Kawhia County Council proposes to execute certain public works—to wit, the establishing of a shingle-quarry and the provision of means of access thereto; for which purpose the lands shown in the Schedule hereto, together with the subsoil thereof, and all stone, gravel, and road-metal thereon, and all minerals whatsoever thereunder, require to be taken by the said Council under the provisions of sections 18 and 19 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

A plan of the lands required to be taken lies open for inspection at the office of the Kawhia County Council, Kawhia. All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objections to the execution of the said works or to the taking of such lands, and to send such writing to the Kawhia County Council, Kawhia, within forty days from the date of the first publication of this notice.

Dated at Kawhia this second day of June, 1922.

SCHEDULE.

All that piece of land containing one acre three roods seven perches (more or less), being part of the bed of the Oparau River, adjoining Pirongia West Number 3B Section 2c Number 4, Pirongia West Number 3B Section 2A Number 2, and Pirongia West Number 3B Section 2c Number 3 Blocks. Bounded towards the north generally by the bank of the Oparau River, approximately 328·3 links; towards the south-east by a line, 125·3 links; again towards the south-east and east by the bank of the Oparau River; towards the south-west by a line, 256·9 links; and towards the south-west and north-west by the bank of the Oparau River.

And also all that piece of land containing one rood twenty-five and seven-tenths perches (more or less), being part Pirongia West Number 3B Section 2c Number 3 Block. Bounded towards the north-east by other part of the said Block, 408·3 links; towards the south-east and east by a road, 79·8 links and 50·2 links; towards the south-west by other part of the said block, 441·6 links; and towards the north-west by the bank of the Oparau River aforesaid.

OTOROHANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and the Public Works Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Otorohanga County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, a road and a metal reserve; and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken.

And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the office of Messrs. Phillips and Patterson situate in Maniapoto Street, Otorohanga, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours, and is No. 22244, Auckland.

All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at Otorohanga.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto subsisting between the undersigned, EDWARD ASLIN, ROBERT SLOAN BROWN, and CHARLES EDWARD COLE, under the style of “Aslin, Brown, and Cole,” of Dunedin, Solicitors, has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the thirty-first day of May, 1922.

The business of the late Partnership will be carried on by EDWARD ASLIN and ROBERT SLOAN BROWN under the style of “Aslin and Brown,” and they will receive all debts owing to and discharge all claims against the late Partnership.

HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION AMENDING SECURITY RATE LIBRARY LOAN OF £4,000.

WHEREAS the Hamilton Borough Council did, by resolution passed on the 1st day of September, 1920, and gazetted in the New Zealand Gazette, 1920, on page 2639, make and levy a special rate of one-thirtieth of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Hamilton, for the purpose of providing for the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £4,000 authorized by a poll of ratepayers taken on the 26th day of August, 1920, for the purpose of—

Additions to the building of the public library in £
Victoria Street, Hamilton .. .. .. 2,000
Erection of a public library in that part of the Borough of Hamilton formerly the Borough of Frankton .. .. .. 2,000
£4,000

And whereas the annual produce of the said special rate is not sufficient to provide for the interest and sinking fund on account of the said loan:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 22 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Hamilton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That the special rate of one-thirtieth (1/30th) of a penny in the pound struck as security for the Hamilton Borough Council Library Loan of £4,000, 1922, be hereby increased to one-sixteenth (1/16th) of a penny in the pound sterling.”

NELSON CITY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Nelson City Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Nelson City Council Antecedent Liability Loan of £30,824, authorized to be raised by the said Council, under the above-mentioned Act, and under the Local Bodies’ Finance Act, 1921–22, for the purpose of extinguishing the Antecedent Liability of the said Council on the 31st day of March, 1922, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of threepence halfpenny (3½d.) in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable property in the whole of the City of Nelson; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
