The total births registered for the four principal urban areas amounted to 835, as against 739 in February—an increase of 96. The deaths in March were 334—an increase of 49 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 166, females 168. Forty-eight of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 14·34 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-two of these were under one year of age.
