The total births registered for the four principal urban areas amounted to 750, as against 760 in August—a decrease of 10. The deaths in September were 386—a decrease of 49 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 218, females 168. Forty-seven of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 12·18 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-eight of these were under one year of age.
