at 6 p.m., on Fridays at 9 p.m. ; in the evening of the working-day first preceding Christmas Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour ; in the evening of the working-day that first precedes Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) clothier, and (3) mercer within the Borough of Blenheim :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I do hereby direct that on and after the 20th day of October, 1921, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) clothier, and (3) mercer in the Borough of Blenheim shall be closed accordingly.

The notice gazetted on the 18th May, 1916, fixing the closing-hours of drapery, clothing, mercery, and boot-dealers’ shops in the Borough of Blenheim is hereby superseded, in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice, as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Forfeiture of Land in Southland Land District rescinded.

WESTPORT HARBOUR.—WESTERN BREAKWATER LIGHT TRANSFERRED.

THE Westport Harbour Board notifies that owing to the action of heavy seas it has been found necessary to transfer the red fixed light which marks the seaward end of the Western Breakwater to a position further upstream.

The present position of the red fixed light is 150 ft. from the extreme outer end of the Western Breakwater.

Result of Land Surveyors Examination, September, 1921.

AT the examination of candidates for a surveyor’s license held in September, 1921, under the Surveyors’ Institute and Board of Examiners’ Act, 1908, and conducted by the Federated Surveyors’ Boards of Australia and New Zealand, thirty-one candidates presented themselves in New Zealand.
