Notice to Mariners.-No. 47 of 1921.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.-EASTERN TIDE-DEFLECTOR.

Wellington, N.Z., 6th September, 1921.
THE Auckland Harbour Board notifies that two temporary single pile beacons have been placed as follows:-
(1.) Pile No. 1 situated 117° 3,711 ft. from King's Wharf light-tower.
(2.) Pile No. 2 situated 122° 4,118 ft. from King's Wharf light-tower.
These pile beacons are not lighted owing to their nearness to the works in progress.

OTAGO HARBOUR.-AMENDED POSITIONS OF LIGHTS AT ENTRANCE.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 20, of 9th May, 1921, the Otago Harbour Board notifies that the positions of the three lights operating at the entrance are:-

Front Aga light (No. 2 red beacon) 45 47 27 170 43 12
Back Aga light (near Kaik Dairy Factory) ... ... ... 25 48 00 170 43 7
Hayward Point (Aga light) .. 45 45 28 170 41 34
The positions of these lights have been calculated from the locally accepted position of Observation Point in latitude 45° 48' 57" S., longitude 170° 37' 43.5" E.

OTAGO HARBOUR.-TAIAROA HEAD LIGHT.-CHANGE OF COLOUR AND CHARACTERISTIC.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about Monday, the 26th September, 1921, the fixed red light on Taiaroa Head will be changed to an automatic unwatched flashing light (white), of the following characteristic:-
Group flashing (10 seconds) showing ½ second light, 2 seconds dark, ½ second light, 7 seconds dark.
The light will be visible 20½ miles in clear weather.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

NOTICE is hereby given that the license to occupy the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Canterbury Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Lands in Hawke's Bay Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, and the local Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 28th day of October, 1921.
The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the local Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, on Monday, the 31st day of October, 1921, at 10 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined at Napier up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, 28th October.
The ballot will be held at the local Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

IMPROVEMENTS.
The improvements included in the price of the land comprise fencing, windmills, &c., valued as follows : Section ls, fencing, £35 5s.; Section 2s, fencing and windmill, £42 17s. 6d; Section 3s, fencing, £37 10s.; Section 4s, fencing, orchard plantation, tennis-court, and windmill, £84 5s.; Section 5s, fencing, windmill, dip and yards, £97; Section 6s, fencing and windmill, £49 10s.; Section 7s, fencing and windmill, £83; Section 8s, fencing and windmill, £54 5s.; Section 9s, fencing and windmill, £47 5s.; Section 10s, fencing, £35 5s.
The improvements which are not included in the price of the land, but which must be paid for separately, are as follows :-
Section 4s.-Eight-roomed dwelling and bathroom, store-room, implement-shed, cow-shed, buggy and motor shed, and old wool-shed, valued at £395, which may be paid for in cash or in twenty-one years by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £15 8s. 2d. Total half-yearly payment on lease, £98 19s. 11d. Men's cottage also situated on Section 4s, and valued at £50, will be sold for removal.
Section 5s.-Wool-shed, engine and machines, valued at £350, which may be paid for in cash or in twenty-one years by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £13 13s. Total half-yearly payment on lease, £87 13s. 6d.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
Situated on the Pipiwhakaoa Road, about nine miles from Gisborne Post-office and six miles and a half from borough boundary. From borough boundary to Pipi-whakaoa Road, a distance of about five miles on Gisborne-Te Arai Road, the road is metalled, but the mile and a half of Pipiwhakaoa Road is unformed and unmetalled. The Patutahi School is about three miles away.
DESCRIPTIONS OF SECTIONS.
