RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club at a meeting held on the 6th day of December, 1920, at Wellington, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. J. B. Harcourt, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. J. B. Harcourt, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. O. S. Watkins seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Wellington Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 29th day of September, 1916, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the district of Trentham, and known as the Trentham Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—
    (a.) Bookmakers.
    (b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.
    (c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
    (d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.
    (e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908

The foregoing regulations of the Wellington Racing Club were made and passed by the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club on the 6th day of December, 1920, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

OHURA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Ohura County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £25,000, authorized to be raised by the Ohura County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of—

Construction of roads and tramway to give access to metal-pits .. .. .. £ 5,000
Garage-sheds and workmen’s huts .. .. .. 3,000
Machinery and plant for construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and culverts .. 17,000

the said Council hereby makes a special rate of one half-penny (½d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the County of Ohura; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 14th day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-named company duly convened and held at Auckland on the 9th December, 1920, the resolution (a) below mentioned was duly passed as an extraordinary resolution, and that at a subsequent extraordinary general meeting also duly convened and held on the 24th December, 1920, that same resolution was duly confirmed as a special resolution, and the resolution (b) below mentioned was passed at the same meeting:—
(a.) That the Auckland Brickmakers’ Association (Limited) be wound up voluntarily.
(b.) That ALEXANDER ELDER WARNOCK be and is hereby appointed Liquidator of the company.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and its amendments, and the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington purposes, under the provisions of the above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, the provision of a recreation-ground and pleasure-ground; and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection (without fee), by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such lands should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at the said office.
