HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Lieutenant Alec Wilkie Greville is transferred to the Reserve of Officers (General List). Dated 6th January, 1921.
1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).
Lieutenant-Colonel John Deans is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 6th January, 1921.
Lieutenant Thomas Masefield resigns his commission. Dated 7th January, 1921.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) John Booth Beckett resigns his commission. Dated 10th January, 1921.
3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain William Harold Walters is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 11th January, 1921.
7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant Percy Alfred Smith, from the N.Z. Rifle Brigade (Earl of Liverpool’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 15th December, 1920.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Robert Wilson Lauchlan resigns his commission. Dated 5th January, 1921.
2ND (SOUTH CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.
Conrad Arnold Vess to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 7th January, 1921.
4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.
Coast Defence Detachment.
Major David White is appointed to command the detachment. Dated 9th January, 1921.
13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.
William Gordon McKay to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 7th January, 1921.
N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE (EARL OF LIVERPOOL’S OWN),
TERRITORIAL.
2nd Lieutenant Percy Alfred Smith is transferred to the 7th (Southland) Mounted Rifles. Dated 15th December, 1920.
N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend Percival Ernest James to be Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class. Dated 21st December, 1920.
N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Staff Nurse Cora Evelyn Turnbull to be Sister. Dated 1st April, 1917.
Sister Cora Evelyn Turnbull is granted the temporary rank of Matron whilst in charge of the Military Hospital, Timaru. Dated 5th December, 1920.
Sister Daphne Rowena Commons to be Charge Sister. Dated 9th October, 1920.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS (temp.).
Lieutenant-Colonel George Thompson Hall, C.M.G., C.B.E., (D.), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers (General List), with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel). Dated 4th January, 1921.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Edendale Town District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

EDENDALE TOWN DISTRICT.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I, Oscar Baird, Chairman of the Edendale Town District, declare that the poll of the ratepayers taken on the 21st day of December, 1920, respecting the proposal to raise a special loan of £4,500, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, resulted as follows: For the proposal, 34; against the proposal, 11; informal votes, 1. Majority in favour of the proposal, 23.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Orini Special Rating District.—Loan of £16,000 for constructing and metalling Roads.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that the following is the result of a poll of the ratepayers of the Orini Special Rating District taken on the 12th day of January, 1921, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £16,000 for the purpose of constructing and metalling roads for the first time in that portion of the County of Waikato known as the Orini Special Rating District.
The number of votes recorded was—for the proposal, 86; against the proposal, 31.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll on Loan.
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 14th day of December, 1920, a proposal was submitted by the Dunedin City Council to the ratepayers of the City of Dunedin for raising a special loan of £35,000 for the purpose of acquiring the tramway undertaking at present owned and controlled by the Dunedin and Roslyn Tramway Company (Limited), and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 1,091; against the proposal, 1,035.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.
Dated the 15th day of December, 1920.
