Regulations for the Employment and Payment of Itinerant Teachers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 18th day of January, 1921.

His Excellency The Governor-General In Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the Education Act, 1914, and the amendments of that Act, and
all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doeth hereby make the regulations set forth hereafter for the employment
and payment of itinerant teachers; and doth prescribe that this Order
shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the New
Zealand Gazette.
REGULATIONS.

In cases where the establishment of full-time or of part-time schools
is impracticable, itinerant teachers may, with the approval of the Minister,
be appointed by an Education Board to give house-to-house instruction to
pupils of school age in isolated districts; but no such teacher shall be
appointed until suitable accommodation in the locality has been guaranteed
for him. -
Itinerant teachers shall give instruction for not less than twenty hours
on not less than five days in each week. -
Every itinerant teacher shall, when required, furnish the Senior
Inspector with such evidence of the progress of his pupils as may be
required. -
An itinerant teacher shall receive a salary of £200 per annum, together with a travelling-allowance of £50 per annum, and such addition to
salary payable in accordance with clause 2 of the regulations for the salaries
of public-school teachers as for a teacher graded in Group I under the regulations for the grading of teachers. In the case of a married teacher house
allowance at the rate of £30 per annum shall also be paid.

Declaring Land in the Wellington Land District to be subject
to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by
section seventy-nine of the Land for Settlements Act,
1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
areas of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall
be subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act,
1908, and hall hereafter form part of the Carrington Settlement.
SCHEDULE.
ALL those areas in the Wellington Land District, containing
by admeasurement 278 acres, 58 acres l rood 23 perches,
and 188 acres 1 rood, being Section 12, Block I, Section 33,
Block II, and Section 10, Block V, Tiffin Survey District,
respectively. As the same is more particularly shown on a
plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Wel-
lington numbered 313/1, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 13th day of January, 1921.

Regulations for New Zealand Military Forces amended.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its
amendments, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend,
in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule
hereto, the Regulations for the Military Forces of New
Zealand made on the twenty-second day of December, one
thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of January,
one thousand nine hundred and fourteen; and I do hereby
declare that the amendment hereby made shall take effect
as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES, 1913.
Section VIII.-Bands.
PARAGRAPH 402 is hereby revoked, and the following substituted:-
"402. Bands may be formed as follows:-
Mounted Rifles: One for each regiment.
Artillery: One in each district.
Infantry: One for each battalion.
Senior Cadets: One at the headquarters of each
Group.
The strength of each band will be thirty-five, exclusive
of the Bandmaster, consisting of twenty-five members of
military age and ten supernumeraries of any age, providing
that the latter are efficient musicians.
No extra allowance or pay will be made from Government
funds for bands, or in respect of men acting as bandsmen."
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 15th day of January, 1921, in the presence of
R. H. RHODES, Minister of Defence.
