Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £12,000 to be raised by the Akito County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 6th day of June, 1921.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR F. H. D. BELL, K.C.M.G.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Akito County Council, acting under and in pursuance of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, lately proposed to raise a loan of twelve thousand pounds for the purpose of metalling and culverting the Glenora Road:

And whereas section ten of the said Act provides that the poll of ratepayers shall be taken not less than one nor more than three weeks after the day of the last publication of the notice of intention to raise the loan:

And whereas the poll of ratepayers was taken within one week after the day of the last publication of the notice of intention to raise the loan, inasmuch as the last publication of the said notice appeared in the issue of the Dannevirke Evening News dated the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, and the poll of ratepayers was held on the nineteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one:

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by the said irregularity or defect, and it is expedient to validate the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the proceedings taken shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the poll of ratepayers had been taken in the proper manner, and that the validity of the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall not be called into question by reason only of the irregularity or defect aforesaid.

Vesting a Reserve in the Raglan County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 6th day of June, 1921.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been permanently reserved for a public cemetery:
And whereas it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Raglan County:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the fourth section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that from and after the day of the date hereof the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Raglan County, in trust, for a public cemetery.

Extending Time for reporting under Commission appointed under the Thames Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Act, 1920.

To all to whom these presents shall come, and to FREDERICK JAMES BURGESS, Esquire, of Auckland; HORATIO JOHN HOOPER BLOW, Esquire, of Wellington; and THOMAS MERVYN WELLS, Esquire, of Cambridge: Greeting.

WHEREAS by Warrant dated the ninth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, you the said Frederick James Burgess, Horatio John Hooper Blow, and Thomas Mervyn Wells were appointed under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, and the Thames Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Act, 1920, to be a Commission to inquire into and determine not later than the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, the following questions, that is to say:—

(a.) Whether any, and if any, then what, areas shall be added to or excluded from the Thames Harbour District;

(b.) What amount of rates shall be leviable upon the various properties within the respective areas comprised within the Thames Harbour District:

And whereas it is expedient that the period within which a report is to be made should be extended as hereinafter provided:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby extend the period within which you shall report to me as by the said Commission provided to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one:

And, in further pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Act, and with the like advice and consent, I do hereby confirm the said Commission except as altered by these presents.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 31st day of May, 1921.

Extending Period within which the Commission constituted to inquire into and report upon Proposals to amend the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, shall report.— (H. No. 43.)

To all whom these presents shall come, and to VERNON HERBERT REED, Esquire, M.P., of Kawakawa; HUGH T. D. ACLAND, Esquire, C.M.G., F.R.C.S., of 381 Montreal Street, Christchurch, Medical Practitioner; the Honourable ARCHIBALD F. HAWKE, M.L.C., of Invercargill; GEORGE SHIRTCLIFFE, Esquire, of 40 Tinakori Road, Wellington, Merchant; and the Honourable WILLIAM HENRY TRIGGS, M.L.C., of Christchurch, Journalist.

WHEREAS by Warrants dated the eighteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, and the fourteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, you, the said Vernon Herbert Reed, Hugh T. D. Acland, Archibald F. Hawke, George Shirtcliffe, and William Henry Triggs were appointed to be a Commission under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, for the purposes set out in the said Warrants:

And whereas by the said Warrants you were required to report to me, under your hands and seals, your opinions as to the aforesaid matters not later than the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one:

And whereas by Warrant dated the third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, the time in which you were required to report to me was extended to the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one:

And whereas it is expedient that the said period should be further extended as hereinafter provided:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby extend the period within which you shall report to me as by the said Commission provided to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one.

And in further pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Act, and with the like advice and consent, I do hereby confirm the said Commission except as altered by these presents.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of June, 1921.
