Grading of Secondary-school Teachers and of Technical-school Teachers.—Setting-up of Appeal Boards for 1921.

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that PETER BARR has been appointed Chairman of all Appeal Boards for the year 1921 set up to hear appeals in connection with the grading of secondary-school teachers and of technical-school teachers; and that THEOPHILUS BENJAMIN STRONG has been appointed representative of the Education Department upon such Boards.

These appointments are made under clause 10 of the Regulations for the Classification of Secondary-school Teachers, and under clause 9 of the Regulations for Classification of Teachers in Technical Schools and Classes and of Manual-training Classes, made by Order in Council of the 8th December, 1920.

Grading of Secondary-school Teachers.—Election of Teachers’ Representatives on the Appeal Boards for 1921.

IN pursuance of clause 10 of the Regulations for the Classification of Secondary-school Teachers, made by Order in Council of the 8th December, 1920, it is hereby notified that the following persons have been duly elected members of the Appeal Boards as representatives of the full-time classified secondary-school teachers employed in the respective university districts:—

Auckland University District: WILLIAM CARADUS.
Middle University District: THOMAS BRODIE.
Canterbury College District: ROBERT MALCOLM LAING.

The following are the particulars of the voting:—
Auckland University District: William Caradus, elected unopposed.
Middle University District: Thomas Brodie, 70; Nellie Euphemia Coad, 63. Number of valid votes recorded, 133; number of informal votes, nil.
Canterbury College District: Robert Malcolm Laing, elected unopposed.

Elected member of South Island Appeal Board as the representative of full-time classified teachers employed in the South Island: THOMPSON, ROBERT JOHN.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to interpret the Customs Duties Act in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:—
