THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Hydrographic Office, London, are published for general information.

ENGLAND.
WEST COAST.—SCILLY ISLES.—PENINNIS HEAD LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN DURATION OF FLASH.
Date of Alteration.—On or about 15th January, 1921.
Position.—Lat. 49° 54′ N., long. 6° 18′ W. (approx.).
Alteration.—The duration of the flash of this unwatched flashing white light will be reduced from 1½ seconds to half a second. The light will then show thus: Flash 0·5 sec., eclipse 19·5 secs.
Note.—At the same time the power of the light will be increased to 100,000 candles.
Remarks.—No further notice will be given.
PORTUGAL.
SOUTH COAST.—CAPE CARVOEIRO.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.
Position.—Near the extremity of Cape Carvoeiro, at a distance of 2·4 cables, 106°, from Alfanzina Fort. Lat. 37° 5′ N., long. 8° 26′ W. (approx.).
Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. fl. (2), ev. 15 secs., 184 ft., vis. 20 m.
Characteristics:
Character.—Group flashing white showing two flashes every fifteen seconds.
Elevation.—184 feet (56m 1).
Visibility.—20 miles.
Structure.—White square masonry tower with red lantern over one-storey dwelling, 60 feet (18m 3) in height.
INDIA.
BAY OF BENGAL.—RIVER HUGLI ENTRANCE.—ALTERATIONS IN LIGHT-VESSELS.
(1.) Alterations in positions of light-vessels —
(a.) Lower Gaspar Light-vessel.
New Position.—At a distance of about 2¼ miles south-eastward from former position. Lat. 21° 24′ 58″ N., long. 88° 8′ 40″ E., on Chart No. 814.
Description.—As described in the Admiralty List of Lights.
Remarks.—The station watch-buoy is to be moved on the charts to the same relative position with regard to the light-vessel as hitherto.
Note.—Upper Saugor Sand buoy with ball topmark, formerly situated close to the new position of the light-vessel, is to be expunged from the charts.
(b.) Eastern Channel Light-vessel.
New Position.—At a distance of about 3¼ miles southward from former position. Lat. 20° 53′ N., long. 88° 11′ 35″ E., on Chart No. 814.
Description.—As described in the Admiralty List of Lights.
Remarks.—The station watch-buoy is to be moved on the charts to the same relative position with regard to the light-vessel as hitherto.
(2.) Alteration in position and characteristics of light of intermediate light-vessel:—
New Position.—At a distance of about 2¼ miles southward from former position. Lat. 21° 11′ 20″ N., long. 88° 11′ 35″ E., on Chart No. 814.
New Abridged Description of Light.—Lt. occ., ev. 2 secs., 31 ft., vis. 11 m., and lt. F., 18 ft.
Alteration.—The group flashing white light has been replaced by lights having the undermentioned characteristics:—
Character.—In the fore part of the vessel, an occulting white light every two seconds, thus: Light 1 sec., eclipse 1 sec. In the after part of the vessel, a fixed white stern light.
Elevation.—Occulting light, 31 ft. (9m 4); fixed light, 18 ft. (5m 5).
Visibility.—Occulting light, 11 miles; fixed light, not stated.
Structure.—On the forecastle, a framework super-structure.
Remarks.—The remaining characteristics of the light-vessel are as described in the Admiralty List of Lights.
