Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Borough of Eltham, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Borough of Eltham, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: During the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, and April, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5.30 p.m., Saturday at 9 p.m.; on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at 10 p.m. During the months of May, June, July, August, and September, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5.30 p.m., Saturday at 8.30 p.m.:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Eltham:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I do hereby direct that on and after the 14th day of April, 1921, all shops in the Borough of Eltham shall be closed as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions:—
(1.) On the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the working-day that first precedes New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.;
(2.) During the months of May, June, July, August, and September in each year the closing-hour on Saturdays shall be 8.30 p.m.
The notices gazetted on the 18th November, 1909, and the 13th September, 1917, fixing the closing-hours of certain shops and hairdressers' and tobacconists' shops respectively in the Borough of Eltham are hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Wellington Tramways Employees’ Union Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 632, situated at Wellington, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
