the sum of twenty shillings each ; and the Postmasters at Aponga, Hikurangi, Kamo, Kiripaka, Limestone, Mangapai, Mangawai, Maungakaramea, Parakao, Parua Bay, Poroti, Ruakaka, Titoki, Waikiekie, Waipu, Whakapara, and Whangarei are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses to kill imported game.
And I do further notify that the following native game—viz., black swan, grey duck, pukeko, and teal—may be killed within the above-mentioned district (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the second day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, both days inclusive ; and I do hereby restrict the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twelve head in all.
SCHEDULE.
AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED AND NATIVE GAME SHALL NOT BE KILLED.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement approximately twenty-eight square miles, situated in Purua and Whangarei Survey Districts, and comprising all the land within the circumference of a circle having a radius of three miles, and its centre near the hatcheries at the intersection of the eastern boundary of Ketenikau No. 7, in Block VIII, Purua Survey District, with the north side of the road cutting off the extreme south-eastern corner of the said Ketenikau No. 7.
The boundary as exactly indicated above passes approximately through the places locally known as follows : Starting at the north it crosses Kauri Road just south of Big Mountain Trig. Station ; thence going westerly and southerly it crosses the Ruatangata Road at Ngararatunna Settlement ; afterwards crossing Three-mile Bush Road near Campbell’s ; after passing through State Forest Reserves of 1,580 acres and 1,600 acres it strikes Maunu Road near Black Bridge ; crossing Otaika Road at Raumanga it passes to the south-east of the Borough of Whangarei, and crosses Head’s Road at Reyburn’s house ; after crossing Whareora Road near the caves and Kiripaka Road near the church the boundary passes through Cork’s Farm and back to starting-point ; including the Borough of Whangarei and the Town District of Kamo.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,600 acres, more or less being a reserve for water-conservation, situated in Blocks XI and XII, Purua Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Taikoia Block, Pukemiro Block, and Sections 55, 52, and 76 ; towards the east by Harahora Block ; towards the south generally by Sections 1, 2, and 3, Taikawiwi Block, Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, Waihoanga Block, and Te Hape Block ; and towards the west generally by Section 28, Crown Land, and State forest reserve.
Also all lands notified or set apart as sanctuaries or reserves for the preservation of imported or native game.

THE attention of sportsmen, game-dealers, and others is called to the following provisions of the Animals Protection Act, 1908, and the Animals Protection Amendment Act, 1910

THE ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT, 1908.
Section 36.—No person shall kill, destroy, or shoot at any game or native game with anything but a shoulder gun, and no such gun must exceed size No. 10 at muzzle. No gun shall exceed 10 lb. in weight.
Any person offending against this provision is liable to a penalty not exceeding £20.
Section 31.—No imported game or native game to be exported without the written consent of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Season for taking or killing native and imported game (other than deer and godwits), 2nd May to 31st July.
Section 10.—Fee for license to take or kill imported game (other than deer) to be £1.
Section 30.—No imported or native game, whether chilled or otherwise, to be held in possession for a greater period than seven days after close of season.
THE ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT, 1910.
Section 2.—Use of cylinders prohibited.
Section 10.—Every person who destroys or injures or captures any bird which is indigenous to New Zealand, or who robs or destroys the nest of any such bird, is liable to a fine not exceeding £20.
The following native game has been exempted from above provisions during shooting season : Paradise duck, pukeko, teal, grey duck, spoonbill duck, wild geese, and black swan.

Buller .. Hares, pukeko, grey duck, and black swan.
Coromandel .. Cock pheasants, Australian quail, grey duck, teal, and black swan.
East Coast.. Cock pheasants, Californian quail, grey duck, teal, and black swan.
Feilding and district Hares, cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, grey duck, and black swan.
Grey District .. Hares, grey duck, pukeko, teal, and black swan.
Hawera .. Cock pheasants, quail, grey duck, teal, and black swan.
Hawke’s Bay .. Cock pheasants, Californian quail, grey duck, teal, and black swan.
Hobson .. Cock pheasants, Australian quail, grey duck, teal, pukeko, and black swan.
Lakes District .. Californian quail, paradise duck, grey duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Mangonui-Whangaroa Cock pheasants, Australian quail, grey duck, spoonbill duck, teal, pukeko, and black swan.
