ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 24th day
of March, 1921.

IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS application has been made under section
twenty, subsection one, of the Finance Act, 1919,
for the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council
to enable the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sums
of seven thousand six hundred pounds for completing the
purchase of a property, and ninety-eight thousand pounds
for the distribution of electricity, and it is expedient that
such consent should issue:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth
hereby consent to the raising of the loans of seven thousand
six hundred pounds and ninety-eight thousand pounds
by the Christchurch City Council at a rate of interest not
exceeding five and one-half pounds per centum per annum;
and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made
under the provisions in that behalf of the Finance Act, 1919,
and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-
General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby autho-
rized.

New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, 1917.—Closing of Registers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the register of New Zealand
4½-per-cent. inscribed stock maturing 20th April, 1939,
and the register of New Zealand 5-per-cent. inscribed stock
maturing 20th April, 1929, will be closed from the 1st April
to the 20th April, 1921, inclusive, for the purpose of the
issue of the half-yearly interest.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VIII, Aria
Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under
the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to
execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction
of a road in Block VIII, Aria Survey District; and for
the purposes of such public work the land described in
the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice
is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required
to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Otangiwai, and
is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected
by the execution of the said public work or by the taking
of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to
the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing,
and send such writing, within forty days from the first
publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
2 roods 30 perches.
Portion of Section 61c, Section 3, Rangitoto-Tuhua Block,
situated in Block VIII, Aria Survey District (Taranaki
R.D.). (S.O. 5627.)
In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 50698,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured yellow.
As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 24th day of
