ADMIRALTY PUBLICATIONS.
NEW EDITION OF “PACIFIC ISLANDS PILOT,” VOL. III.
A fifth edition of “Pacific Islands Pilot,” Vol. III, dated 3rd May, 1920, has been published.
The following Admiralty Notices to Mariners issued since going to press affect this book: Nos. 878, 1409, and 1441 of 1920.
AUSTRALIA.
NORTH COAST.—CLARENCE STRAIT.—HOWARD KNOLL LIGHT BUOY.—LIGHT TO BE TEMPORARILY EXTINGUISHED.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the group flashing red light shown from the Howard Knoll light buoy No. 2 will be temporarily extinguished on or about 31st December, 1920.
Position.—At a distance of about one mile northward of Howard Knoll. Lat. 11° 59¾′ S., long. 131° 18¾′ E.
Description.—A group flashing red light.
Caution.—Vessels navigating at night in this vicinity after the above date are advised to anchor until daylight.
Note.—A further notice will be issued when the light is re-exhibited.
TASMANIA.
EAST COAST.—EDDYSTONE POINT LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.—RED SECTORS TO BE DISCONTINUED.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the group flashing light with white and red sectors on Eddystone Point will be replaced by a group flashing white light on or about 15th March, 1921.
Position.—Near extreme of Eddystone Point. Lat. 40° 59½′ S., long. 148° 21′ E., on Chart No. 1706.
Details.—The group flashing light with white and red sectors will be replaced by a group flashing white light having the undermentioned characteristics:—
Character.—Group flashing white light showing three flashes every thirty seconds, duration of flashes about 1·4 seconds each.
Visibility.—18 miles, from 151° (S. 38½° E. mag.) through south, west, and north to 24° (N. 14½° E. mag.); a faint white fixed light will be visible thence to the shore; obscured elsewhere.
Power.—70,000 candles.
Structure.—Circular granite tower 116 ft. in height.
Remarks.—The red sectors will be discontinued on or about 15th March, 1921. The other details of the light will remain unchanged.
Note.—No further notice will be given.
Notice to Mariners.—No. 73 of 1920
THAMES HARBOUR.—KAUAERANGA STREAM.

Wellington, N.Z., 22nd December, 1920.
MARINERS are hereby notified that the Kauaeranga Stream beacon white light, which was removed on 1st May, 1917, will be reinstated on 7th January, 1921.
The beacon white light was formerly situated on the port-hand bank of the Kauaeranga Stream, about three cables to the westward of Shortland Wharf, and marked the turning-place for the channel making straight for Shortland Wharf. It is intended to reinstate it in the same position as that in which it formerly existed.
The foregoing notice affects the following publications: Admiralty Chart No. 1108, and “New Zealand Pilot,” 1919, page 213.

GISBORNE ROADSTEAD.—TOMOANA ROCK LIGHT.

Wellington, N.Z., 5th January, 1921.
WITH reference to Notice to Mariners No. 66, of 16th November, 1920, the Gisborne Harbour Board have notified that on Thursday, 20th January, the red flashing light buoy marking Tomoana Rock in the Gisborne Roadstead, which was lately removed for overhaul, will be reinstated in former position.
