(1.) The said election will be held on Monday, the 4th day of April, 1921, at the office of the Education Department, Wellington ;
(2.) The poll will close at 5 o’clock p.m. ;
(3.) Nominations will close on Monday, the 7th day of March, 1921.
No person shall be eligible for election unless he is nominated in writing by at least two contributors.

Pastoral Runs in Otago Land District for License to Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 7th February, 1921.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral runs will be offered for license to discharged soldiers, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.
Applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 21st March, 1921.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination on Wednesday, the 23rd March, 1921, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
Preference at the ballot will be given to discharged soldiers who are the holders of back sections in Westcott Settlement, or other discharged soldiers in the vicinity who have insufficient land.
An application may include any number of runs shown on the sale plan, but no person will be allotted more than one run.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—PASTORAL RUNS.
Tuapeka County.—Wart Hill and Benger Survey Districts.
Run 592 (Class A): Area, 3,400 acres; term, twenty-one years; capital value, £875; half-yearly rental, £17 10s. Weighted with valuation for fencing, £30 16s.
Run 593 (Class A): Area, 3,180 acres; term, twenty-one years; capital value, £1,325; half-yearly rental, £26 10s.
Run 593B (Class A): Area, 1,900 acres; term, twenty-one years; capital value, £800; half-yearly rental, £16. Weighted with valuation for fencing, £55 10s.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
Situated twenty-two to twenty-three miles from Beaumont Railway-station, and about five to six miles from Ettrick Post and Telephone Office and school. All high country on Mount Benger. Altitude from about 1,800 ft. to 3,700 ft. above sea-level. Good tussock and native grasses. Well watered.
The valuation for fencing must be paid for immediately an applicant has been declared successful.

Land in the Marlborough Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, 7th February, 1921.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 10th March, 1921.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for a term of thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Friday, the 11th day of March, 1921, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Distant about two miles from Blenheim Post-office. Access is by good metalled roads. Watered by natural streams which dry up in summer; but water can be obtained by sinking. These sections are all flat agricultural land; altitude about 50 ft. Lucerne has been established on adjoining Section 19, so there is no reason why it should not succeed on these sections.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for license to discharged soldiers under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 15th March, 1921.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 16th March, 1921, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
Pastoral Run.—Class A.
Run 636, Styx River: Area, 14,000 acres; annual rental, £14; term of license, twenty-one years.
Situated in the Valley of the Styx River, about three miles from its junction with Kokatahi River, and including Newton and Browning Ranges. Comprises several scattered river-flats covered with rough grass, and partly very light bush and scrub; the slopes of the ranges are steep and bush-clad, rising to rocky tops covered with rough summer pasture. Access by Styx Valley Road, a distance of approximately nine miles from Kokatahi Post and Telegraph Office.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS.

The run is offered subject to all existing mining and timber rights and right of access thereto. The right is reserved to the public to use all existing tracks, and free and unrestricted right of access along such tracks must be allowed at all times.

The right is reserved to grant mining and timber rights over the run, and free right of access must be allowed to all areas over which such mining and timber right may from time to time be granted.

The right is reserved to the public to take timber for domestic purposes from such portions of the run as the Commissioner of Crown Lands may from time to time determine.

The holders of miners’ rights and mining privileges shall have the right to use all watercourses for the purposes of discharging therein tailings, mining debris, or waste water, and the licensee shall have no right to any compensation whatsoever on account of any damage or injury alleged to have been caused by the exercise of such right.
