and it is proposed to repay the said loan on the 1st day of
April, 1933. It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the
cost of raising the said loan, and the interest and sinking
fund thereon for the first year.
The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was
794; the number of valid votes recorded against the pro-
posal was 293; the total number of valid votes recorded
was 1,087.
I therefore declare the said proposal carried.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 3rd day of
November, 1920, on a proposal to raise a special loan of
£27,300 for the following purposes:—
(a.) To provide and establish a service or services for the
conveyance of passengers and goods upon the rail-
less electric traction or the trolly omnibus traction
system.
(1.) From the railway-station, St. Aubyn Street,
in the Borough of New Plymouth, via Standish
Street and other streets, to the junction of Tukapo
Street and Wallath Road in the said borough; and
(2.) From the said railway-station to the junction
of Carrington and Brooklands Roads in the said
borough.
(b.) To take, purchase, or otherwise acquire and provide
in connection with such service or services lands,
buildings, cars, vehicles, machinery, plant, material,
and other things.
(c.) To pay compensation to any person or persons in-
juriously affected.
(d.) Any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of
the above-mentioned purposes.
The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was
449; the number of valid votes recorded against the pro-
posal was 593; the total number of valid votes recorded
was 1,042.
I therefore declare the said proposal rejected.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 3rd day of
November, 1920, on a proposal to raise a special loan of
£43,500 for the following purposes:—
(a.) £25,500 for the construction of an extension of the
Council’s overhead electric tramway system with
rails and permanent-way from the present terminus
near the intersection of Devon and Morley Streets
in the Borough of New Plymouth to David Street
in the said borough, via Morley Street, Wallace
Place, and Tukapo Street; for purchasing, taking,
or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings,
machinery, plant, and materials therefor; for pay-
ment of compensation to persons injuriously affected
thereby; for forming, re-forming, and improving
the streets, carriage-ways, and footways on the route
of such extension; and for any other purposes inci-
dental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned
purposes.
(b.) £18,000 for the provision and establishment of a
service for the conveyance of passengers and goods
upon the railless electric traction or the trolly omni-
bus traction system from the railway-station in St.
Aubyn Street in the said borough to the junction
of Carrington and Brooklands Roads in the said
borough; for purchasing, taking, or otherwise ac-
quiring necessary land, buildings, cars, vehicles,
machinery, plant, and material therefor; for pay-
ment of compensation to persons injuriously affected
thereby; for forming, re-forming, and improving
the street, carriage-ways, and footways on the route
of such service; and for any other purpose inci-
dental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned
purposes.
The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was
203; the number of valid votes recorded against the pro-
posal was 812; the total number of valid votes recorded
was 1,015.
I therefore declare the said proposal rejected.

Council of the County of Piako, is published in accord-

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the County of Piako was taken on the 27th day of October,
1920, on the proposal of the Piako County Council to borrow
the sum of £5,600 for the purpose of providing the Council’s
share of the cost of constructing a traffic-bridge in ferro-
concrete over the Waihou River at Te Aroha, at the foot
of Kenrick Street, Te Aroha.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 271,
and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was
223.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Council of the Borough of Dargaville, is published in

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the
Borough of Dargaville was taken on the 3rd day of Novem-
ber, 1920, on the proposal of the Dargaville Borough Council
to borrow the sum of £6,000 for the purpose of providing
the borough’s additional quota towards the cost of con-
structing a traffic-bridge and approaches thereto over the
Wairoa River at Dargaville.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 131,
and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 7.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Special Order merging the Newcastle Road District in the County of Waipa.
RESOLVED that, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1908, the
Waipa County Council hereby by special order declares that
on and after the 1st day of April, 1921, the Newcastle Road
Board shall be dissolved and the Newcastle Road District
merged in the County of Waipa.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly
made.
