Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all the Shops in the Borough of Palmerston, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Palmerston, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions:—
(1.) On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the months of May, June, July, and August the closing-hour shall be 5 p.m.;
(2.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) Saturday as the statutory closing-day, the closing-hour for any such shop on Wednesdays shall be 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays 9 p.m., provided, however, that during the months of May, June, July, and August the closing-hour for any such shop on Wednesdays shall be 5 p.m.;
(3.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 19 of the above-mentioned Act) any of the special days mentioned therein, or coming within the meaning thereof, other than Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in any week, the closing-hour on Wednesday in that week for any such shop shall be 5.30 p.m., provided that if such special day should occur during the months of May, June, July, or August the closing-hour on Wednesday in that week for any such shop shall be 5 p.m.;
(4.) Should any of the special days mentioned in exception (3) hereof fall on Saturday in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Friday in that week for any shop that is closed at not later than 1 p.m. on such special day shall be 9 p.m.;
(5.) On the working-day first preceding any of the special days mentioned in exception (3) hereof the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.:
And whereas the Palmerston Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Borough of Palmerston:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of November, 1920, all the shops within the Borough of Palmerston shall be closed accordingly.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Otaki Town District.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Otaki Town District was duly taken under the authority of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, on the 15th day of September, 1920:
And whereas the Clerk of the Otaki Town Board has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the Otaki Town District:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby appoint Saturday as the Saturday closing-day in the Otaki Town District as from the 1st day of June, 1921.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Fishmongers’ Shops in the City of Wellington, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fishmongers’ shops in the City of Wellington has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Six o’clock every evening, with the exception of the working-day preceding Good Friday, when the hour of closing shall be 10 p.m.:
And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the fishmongers’ shops within the City of Wellington:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of November, 1920, all the fishmongers’ shops in the City of Wellington shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th July, 1918, fixing the closing-hours of fishmongers’ shops in the City of Wellington is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Fixing Date for the Election of Members of the Waimakariri Harbour Board.

Wellington, 26th October, 1920.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General in Council has, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by subsection (5) of section 5 of the Waimakariri Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1920, appointed Wednesday, the 17th day of November, 1920, to be the date for the election of the first members of the Waimakariri Harbour Board constituted under the provisions of the hereinbefore-recited Act, in place of Wednesday, the 10th day of November, 1920, heretofore appointed.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in Block VIII, Paeroa Survey District, for Forest-plantation Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, and the War Legislation and Statute Law Amendment Act, 1918, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for forest-plantation purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Waiotapu, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
312 acres.
Being Paeroa East No. 1b Block, situated in Block VIII, Paeroa Survey District. (S.O. 4440B, red.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 49861, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Herekino Survey District, for the Purposes of a Native School, and for Road Access thereto.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Native school, and road access thereto, in Block I, Herekino Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Herekino, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
