And whereas an error was made in the description of Section 8, Block XI, Rangiriri Survey District, Auckland Land District, in the Warrants of the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and the twenty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and published in Gazette No. 5, of the twenty-third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and Gazette No. 52, of the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, respectively, reserving the land for a site for a public school, the area of the same having been described as 5 acres 0 roods 14 perches; and it is expedient to cancel the said Warrants in so far as they relate to Section 8, Block XI, Rangiriri Survey District, Auckland Land District, aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Warrants of the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and the twenty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, in so far as they relate to Section 8, Block XIV, Rangiriri Survey District, and do declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be the land set apart for a site for a public school intended by the said Warrants.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing 7 acres 1 rood 18 perches, more or less, being Section 8, Block XI, Rangiriri Survey District. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/234, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 9th day of October, 1920.

Declaring Land in the Marlborough Land District to be subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section seventy-nine of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the area of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and shall hereafter form part of the Wither Settlement.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 37 perches, more or less, being a piece of stopped Government road adjoining or passing through Sections 19 and 20, Block IV, Taylor Pass Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48844, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 23rd day of September, 1920.

Notice of Change of the Purpose of Portion of a Reserve in the Township of Waverley, Wellington Land District.

WHEREAS by section six of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), the Governor-General is empowered in the case of any public reserve vested in His Majesty or the Governor-General, for any of the purposes comprised in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, to change the purpose for which such reserve was set apart to any other purpose:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is portion of a reserve which was duly set apart for a site for a telegraph-station and post-office, being a purpose within Class II in the Second Schedule to the said Act, and it is expedient to change, as hereinafter provided, the purpose of portion of such reserve so set apart:

Now, therefore, I, Robert Stout, the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section six of the said Act as aforesaid, declare that the portion of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto is hereby changed from a site for a telegraph-station and post-office to a site for a memorial hall. And I do hereby further declare that this notice is issued subject to the provisions of section seven of the said Act, and shall take effect according to the provisions of that section.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 22·4 perches, more or less, being part of Section 144, Township of Waverley. Bounded towards the west by Section 143 of the said township, 152 links; towards the north and east by the other part of Section 144, 92 and 152 links; and towards the south by the Weraroa Road, 92 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/2595, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this 21st day of September, 1920.

Opening National Endowment Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

These sections are the remaining Crown sections on the well-known Tokatoka Swamp. The land is mainly worked-out kahikatea bush swamp, with a strip of cabbage-tree land along the southern boundary. Artesian bores have been put down on many of the sections with satisfactory results. Access is by formed road from either Naumai or Ruawai on the Wairoa River.
