Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and
Retirements of Officers of the Permanent and Territorial
Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers,
resignations, and retirements of the undermentioned officers
of the N.Z. Army Medical Department and Territorial Force,
and the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary
Force to the Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS.

N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL DEPARTMENT.

Captain Sydney Devenish Rhind, M.C., is granted the tem-
porary rank of Major. Dated 1st June, 1920.

Lieutenant (temp.) Ernest Chappell is granted the temporary
rank of Captain whilst employed as Adjutant and Quarter-
master (temp.), Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer. Dated
1st June, 1920.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

N.Z. Post and Telegraph Corps.

Richard Brabazon Morris, Esq., to be Director of Post and
Telegraph Services, with the rank of Colonel. Dated 21st
May, 1920.

1ST (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.

Norman Percy Neal to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 22nd
May, 1920.

17TH (RUAHINE) REGIMENT.

Major Jabez Alfred Cowles to be Lieutenant-Colonel and to
command the regiment. Dated 22nd May, 1920.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend Frank Dunnage, Chaplain to the Forces, 3rd
Class, to be Chaplain to the Forces, 2nd Class. Dated
22nd October, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

The undermentioned Staff Nurses (Temporary Reserve
List) to be Sisters. Dated 1st April, 1920 :—
Margaret Hepple Thompson.
Violet Oppenheim.

Sister Rachael Theodosia Levien to be Charge Sister. Dated
11th May, 1920.

Sister Lucy Isabella Cumberworth (Temporary Reserve List)
is posted for duty. Dated 1st May, 1920.

Captain Walter Vaughan Wilson is transferred to the Reserve

Lieutenant George Walter Kite is transferred to the Reserve

2nd Lieutenant (late Captain, N.Z.E.F.) Richard Frederick
Ward, from the Unattached List, General List, to be Cap-
tain. Dated 6th May, 1920.

N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE.

Earl of Liverpool’s Own (Territorial).

2nd Lieutenant Albert Charles Ernest Loadsman is trans-
ferred to the 5th (Wellington) Regiment. Dated 27th May,
1920.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

Sister Mabel Crook is struck off the strength of the N.Z.
Expeditionary Force and posted to the Temporary Re-
serve List. Dated 20th April, 1920.

Colonel Ralph Anderson Chaffey, C.B.E., (D), A.D.C., is
posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of para-
graph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to
retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated
29th November, 1919.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

N.Z. Post and Telegraph Corps.

Colonel William Russell Morris, C.M.G., I.S.O., relinquishes
the appointment of Director of Post and Telegraph Ser-
vices, and is posted to the Retired List, under the pro-
visions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with
permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed
uniform. Dated 20th May, 1920.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The commission granted the Reverend William Wallace,
Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is cancelled, under the
provisions of section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated
24th May, 1920.
