Election of Member of Taranaki Land Board.
I, GEORGE HENRY BULLARD, Returning Officer for the election of a member of the Taranaki Land Board, do hereby notify, in accordance with the provisions of section 41 of the Land Act, 1908, and the regulations made thereunder, that the only person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring on the said Board was Charles James Ryan, Esq., of Taumarunui.
I do therefore hereby declare that the said Charles James Ryan is duly elected a member of the Taranaki Land Board as from the 25th day of July, 1920.

FLAT ROCK.—LIGHT UNRELIABLE.

WARNING is hereby given that the mechanism of the light (unwatched) on Flat Rock is not working satisfactorily, and that no reliance must be placed on the light until further notice is given. At the present time the light is flashing every twelve seconds.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by the resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

Land in the Auckland Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 26th July, 1920.
The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, the 28th July, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WAITOMO COUNTY.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Pakaumaru Survey District.
SECTION 1, Block VI: Area, 587 acres 2 roods; capital value, £760; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £38; half-yearly rent on lease, £17 2s.
Section 2, Block VI: Area, 548 acres 2 roods; capital value, £700; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £35; half-yearly rent on lease, £15 15s.
Section 3, Block VI: Area, 914 acres 1 rood; capital value, £1,280; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £64; half-yearly rent on lease, £28 16s.
Section 4, Block VI: Area, 807 acres 2 roods; capital value, £1,440; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £72; half-yearly rent on lease, £32 8s.
Section 5, Block VI: Area, 778 acres 3 roods; capital value, £1,580; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £79; half-yearly rent on lease, £35 11s.
These sections are situated from nine to twelve miles eastward from Te Kuiti, of which distance there is a metalled road for five miles, formed dray-road for four miles, and the road for the balance of the distance to the further sections requires construction, for which provision has been made. The country is undulating to hilly, well watered by river or streams, and the altitude ranges from 700 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Sections 1 and 2 are covered with fern and tea-tree scrub, and have broken spurs and cliffs on the Mahorehore Stream. The other sections consist partly of heavy mixed bush country of good quality with dense undergrowth, and partly of open fern and scrub country of lighter quality.
Section 7, Block XI: Area, 428 acres 2 roods 30 perches; capital value, £960; annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £48; half-yearly rent on lease, £21 12s.
