Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers
of the City of Christchurch taken on the 6th day of May,
1920, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to
borrow the sum of £16,000 for the purchase of the property
situate in Manchester Street and owned by the Canterbury
Hall Company (Limited), the number of votes recorded for
the proposal was 1,232, and the number of votes recorded
against the proposal was 538.
I declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
IN pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that the poll of ratepayers of the
Borough of Palmerston North taken on the 5th day of May,
1920, on the proposal of the Palmerston North Borough
Council to borrow the sum of £100,000 for the purpose of
purchasing electrical fittings and stock, and to complete the
electric-lighting undertaking, resulted as follows: For the
proposal, 456; against the proposal, 70.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Notice respecting Proposed Amalgamation of Lower Wairau
and Spring Creek River Districts, County of Marlborough.

IT is hereby notified that petitions have been presented
to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the
River Boards Act, 1908, and its amendments, praying that
the Lower Wairau and Spring Creek River Districts, com-
prising one continuous area, be united and form one district
by name “The Wairau River District.”
All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any
written objections to or petitions against the proposed
amalgamation which they desire to lodge, within one month
from the first publication of this notice. Such objections
and petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the
Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

for a term of three years, these appointments to take effect
from the last Wednesday in April, 1920—that is, from the

Whangamomona County Council has, by special order,
declared foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), gorse (Ulex europæus),
and ox-eye daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum) to be
noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds
Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction.
