Validating District Electors Roll and Supplementary District Electors Roll of the Borough of Hamilton.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth day of May, 1920.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS extraordinary vacancies have occurred on the Hamilton Borough Council by reason of the resignations of the Mayor and six Councillors, and notices of elections to be held on the nineteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, to fill such vacancies have been duly given:

And whereas, pursuant to section thirteen of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), the district electors roll of the Borough of Hamilton was duly closed on the fifth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty:

And whereas corrections and additions to the said roll were made prior to the closing thereof, and a supplementary district electors list has been corrected and completed:

And whereas owing to such resignations as aforesaid there is at present no Mayor of the said Borough of Hamilton and no quorum of the Council thereof, and consequently the said supplementary district electors list cannot be authenticated as a supplementary district electors roll in the manner prescribed by the said Act and the regulations thereunder:

And whereas it is expedient to validate the said supplementary district electors list as the supplementary district electors roll:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section three hundred and sixty-eight of the said Act, and of every other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby validate the said supplementary district electors list as and to be the supplementary district electors roll, and the said district electors roll as amended by such supplementary roll, and declare that the same shall be in all respects valid for all purposes as if the said supplementary district electors list had been duly authenticated in the manner prescribed by the said Act and the regulations thereunder.
