Education Reserve in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Napier, 19th April, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserve is open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, the Land Act, 1908, and their amendments. Applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 14th June, 1920.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Tuesday, 15th June, 1920, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

No rebate of rent will be allowed for prompt payment, and lessees will have no right to acquire the freehold.

SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Porangahau Survey District.

SECTION 3, Block VII: Area, 510 acres 1 rood 36 perches; capital value, £4,200; renewable lease: half-yearly rent, £84.

DESCRIPTION OF RESERVE.

The reserve comprises easy slopes and warm sunny faces, mostly ploughable, clean, well-grassed country; well watered. Altitude from 350 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements which are included with the section consist of boundary and internal fencing.

Land in the Canterbury Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Saturday, the 29th May, 1920.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the Local Lands and Survey Office, Timaru, on Tuesday, 1st June, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the local Lands and Survey Office, Timaru, at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

DESCRIPTION.

This settlement is situated alongside Winscombe Railway-station.

Section 1.—All good agricultural land in English grass, about 35 acres flat, remainder low downs.

Section 2.—All good agricultural land in English grass, about 150 acres flat, remainder low downs. Weighted with £409 for a house, washhouse, dairy, stable, wool-shed, fowl-house, trap-shed, and small cottage, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty half-yearly instalments of £26 9s. 8d. There is on this section a men’s hut for removal to Section 3.

Section 3.—All good flat agricultural land in English grass. Weighted with £80 for a men’s hut at present on Section 2, which may be paid for in cash or out of advances.

Fairlie Rifle Range, five chains wide, is situated along the northern boundary of this section, and the successful applicant will be called upon to give the Defence Department a lease of the shooting rights over the range.

Sections 4 and 5.—All rolling downs, good agricultural land in English grass.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements that go with the land are for boundary and subdivisional fencing valued as follows: Section 1, 286 chains, £112; Section 2, 377 chains, £147; Section 3, 138 chains, £55; Section 4, 233 chains, £58; Section 5, 279 chains, £113.
