Notice to Mariners.—No. 14 of 1920.
LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—HAYWARD POINT.
Marine Department,
Wellington, 20th April, 1920.
ON and after the 29th instant an automatic unwatched light will be shown from Hayward Point.
Position (Approximate).—1·77 miles 57¼° (N. 74° 49′ W. mag.) from Taiaroa Head Lighthouse.
Abridged Description.—Lt. fl., W.R., ev. 4 secs., vis. 10·8 m. (U.).
Characteristics.—Character.: Unwatched Aga light flashing every four seconds, with white and red sectors, thus—flash 0·4 sec., eclipse 3·6 secs.
Visibility: White light, about 10 miles; red light, about 8 miles.
Sectors: White from 127° (S. 70° 34′ E. mag.) through south to 255° (S. 57° 26′ W.), thence red to 307° (N. 70° 34′ W. mag.).
Notes.—The red sector covers the danger zone from Taiaroa Head to the outer end of the bank. Inward-bound vessels should keep to the westward until they are in the white sector before attempting to enter the harbour or come to an anchor. Outward-bound vessels should keep in the line of leading-lights until they are in the white sector before shaping their course.

USERS of the New Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide-tables are requested to make the following correction on the eleventh line of page 345 of the Almanac for 1920, in directions for entering the Inner Harbour at Lyttelton: The bearing of two beacons in line should read 303½° (N. 73½° W. magnetic) in lieu of 57° (N. 73½° W. magnetic) as now printed.
