Amended Regulations made by the New Zealand Institute of Architects (Incorporated).

WHEREAS by section twenty-one of the New Zealand Institute of Architects Act, 1913 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), the Institute, with the approval of the Governor-General in Council, is authorized to make regulations for the carrying-out of the said Act :

And whereas regulations were so made and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen (hereinafter called “the said regulations”) :

And whereas it is desired to amend the said regulations :

Now, therefore, the Institute, in pursuance and exercise of the said authority, and with the approval of the Governor-General in Council, doth amend the said regulations in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto, and doth order that such amended regulations shall have effect from and after the eighth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

SCHEDULE.

  1. CLAUSE 42 of the said regulations is amended by deleting the word “November” and inserting in its place the word “December.”

  2. Clause 84 is amended by deleting the words “September 30th” and inserting in their place the words “October 31st.”

  3. Clause 90 is amended by deleting the words “30th October” and inserting in their place the words “31st December.”

  4. Clause 97 is amended by deleting the word “elected.”

  5. Clause 109 is amended by deleting the words “in November in each year” and inserting in their place “each year in the months of January or February as the Executive may determine.”

  6. Clause 6 of the By-laws of District Branches of the said regulations is amended by deleting the words “20th September” and inserting in their place the words “31st October.”

  7. Clause 10 of the By-laws of District Branches of the said regulations is amended by deleting the words “15th October” and inserting in their place the words “30th November.”

In pursuance of the provisions of the New Zealand Institute of Architects Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, approves of the foregoing regulations.

Additional Regulations for the Conduct of Legal Business.

Wellington, 29th March, 1920.

REGULATIONS additional to those of 3rd March, 1890, 24th April, 1894, and 27th May, 1903, respecting the employment of counsel and solicitors on behalf of the Government, &c., which have been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

No. 2 of the regulations of 24th April, 1894, is hereby revoked, and the following regulation is made in lieu thereof :—

ALLOWANCES TO WITNESSES.

  1. Allowances will be made to prosecutors and witnesses for the Crown as follows,—

To medical practitioners giving evidence strictly as experts, for every day’s attendance at Court or necessary absence from usual place of abode £ s. d.

Except as above, to every prosecutor and witness for every day’s attendance at Court or necessary absence from usual place of abode 0 10 0

And, in addition thereto, for every night’s necessary absence from such place of abode 0 4 0

Persons in receipt of salary or wages from the Government, or from any Council, Board, or other authority, however designated, which receives pecuniary aid or subsidy out of moneys appropriated or provided by the General Assembly under any law now or hereafter in force, will be entitled to such allowances if necessarily absent at night from their usual place of abode. If not absent at night from their usual place of abode, such persons will be allowed only their actual personal expenses.

Medical practitioners, being officers of hospitals, giving expert evidence will be paid at the same rate as other medical practitioners; but this provision shall not apply to any medical practitioner employed in the Public Service of the Dominion.

Witnesses residing beyond three miles from the town or city in which the Court is held will also be allowed their coach, railway, or steamboat fares. By railway or steamer second-class fares will be allowed to mechanics, labourers, and persons of similar rank, and first-class fares to others. For coach and steamer fares over 5s. receipts must be furnished.

When there is no public conveyance witnesses will be allowed a mileage rate of 9d. per mile one way.
