Land in Taranaki Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Taranaki Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Land in the Marlborough Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, 9th March, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 11th May, 1920.

The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Thursday, the 13th May, 1920.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Marlborough County.—Taylor Pass Survey District.—Wither Settlement.

SECTION 8, Block IV: Area, 445 acres 3 roods 2 perches; capital value, £3,660; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £183; half-yearly rent on lease, £82 7s.

Distant about two miles from Blenheim Post-office. Access is by good metalled roads, with the exception of fourteen chains unformed road. Watered by natural streams which dry up in summer, but water can be obtained by sinking. The section contains about 100 acres of good agricultural land, level to undulating; balance easy spurs and slopes, all carrying native grass and tussock. Altitude varying from 70 ft. to 900 ft. Lucerne has been established on adjoining Sections 6, 9, and 19, so that there is no reason why it should not succeed on the flats. Improvements included in the price of the section comprise interior and some boundary fencing, valued at £50. The successful applicant is liable for half cost of fencing erected on the boundaries adjoining Sections 9, 16, 28, and 30 by the present occupiers of those sections.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that the undermentioned land will be disposed of for cash to the owner of adjoining land, under section 14 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, on and after Thursday, the 18th day of March, 1920.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for License to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for selection by discharged soldiers in terms of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 22nd March, 1920.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Wednesday, 24th March, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—CROWN LAND.

Under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908.

130 ACRES (approx.), situated on south bank of Manawatu River; Block I, Makuri Survey District, Pahiatua County; term of lease, five years; minimum annual rental, £12.

River-flat land; mostly in grass, subject to flood. Suitable for grazing. Situated six miles and a half from Pahiatua.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

RESERVES.

Under the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.

SECTION 98, Town of Newman, Ekatahuna County: Area, 1 acre; term of lease, seven years; minimum annual rental, £1 5s.

Flat land in grass, rushes, &c., inclined to be wet; well watered by small stream and springs. Situated a few chains from Newman Railway-station by metalled road.

Sections 8 and 78, Block V, Mangaone Survey District, Ekatahuna County: Area, 30 acres 3 roods 35 perches; term of lease, fourteen years; minimum annual rental, £25.

Situated within a mile of Ekatahuna. Section 8, grass land; good soil, part level, part sidling, intersected by a gorge; well watered; accessible by good metalled road (dray). Section 78 mostly steep sidling in natural bush, with thick undergrowth, made more impenetrable by blackberry and bracken; good soil; not well watered, as Ngatakaha Stream is inaccessible.

ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  2. The leases shall be for the terms specified.

  3. The rent shall be paid half-yearly in advance.

  4. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  5. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all noxious weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  6. The lessee of the area in Block I, Makuri Survey District, shall maintain in good repair the fences protecting the adjoining bush reserves, and prevent stock trespassing thereon. He shall also prevent damage by stock to the existing willow protective works.

  7. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee fails to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to have been fulfilled.

Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit of a half-year’s rent at the rate offered and £1 1s. lease fee, and marked on the outside “Tender for lease.”

The lands are described for the general information of intending tenderers, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.

The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. Full particulars may be obtained at this office.
