Regulations under Public Health Act, 1908.—Notification of Death from an Infectious Disease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section eleven of the Public Health Amendment Act, 1919, it is provided that when any person has died of an infectious disease the undertaker, or other person having charge of the funeral of the deceased, shall forthwith, after having been informed of the cause of death and before the removal of the body from the building or other place in which it may then be, give notice to the District Health Officer of the fact of death and the cause thereof:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section one hundred and eleven of the Public Health Act, 1908, and by the said section eleven of the Public Health Amendment Act, 1919, and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby make the following regulations; and doth hereby declare that these regulations shall come into force on the publication thereof in the Gazette.

REGULATIONS.

  1. WHERE the cause of death is any infectious disease, the notice required under section 11 of the Public Health Amendment Act, 1919, shall be given by post, and shall be in the form (A) in the Schedule hereto.

  2. Without excluding the operation of Regulation 1, where the cause of death is influenza or acute primary pneumonia, the notice required under section 11 of the Public Health Amendment Act, 1919, shall be given by telegram, and shall be in the form marked (B) in the Schedule hereto.

  3. Every notice under the first regulation shall be posted, postage being collect, and shall be transmitted free of charge to the sender; and, similarly, every telegram under Regulation 2 shall be marked “collect” and shall be transmitted free of charge to the sender.

NOTICE OF DEATH FROM INFLUENZA OR ACUTE PRIMARY PNEUMONIA.

Notice by the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its Amendments.

All that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, being Sections 17 and 20, Block XX, Town of Palmerston, and being all the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 52, folio 64, and Vol. 37, folio 298, Otago Registry, respectively.

WHEREAS the owner of the above-described land, one John Keen, formerly of Palmerston, Otago, has no known agent in New Zealand: And whereas after due inquiry the said owner cannot be found:

Now, the Public Trustee hereby calls upon such owner, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to the said land; and if he fails or neglects so to do, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its amendments.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in the Southland Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, 5th February, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 29th March, 1920.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, the 31st March, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Southland County.—Forest Hill Hundred.

SECTION 476, Block VI : Area, 214 acres 0 roods 14 perches; capital value, £430; instalment no deferred payment (excluding interest), £21 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £9 13s. 6d.

Hilly bush country, nearly all cleared. Fair soil, on limestone formation. Access by two roads, one of which (at present unformed) runs through the section. Three miles and a half from Browns by gravelled road. Suitable for grazing. Weighted with £162 4s., valuation for hut, fencing, clearing, and grassing.

Southland County.—Invercargill Hundred.

Section 51, Block XXIV : Area, 131 acres 2 roods 5 perches; capital value, £230; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £11 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £5 3s. 6d.

Section 52, Block XXIV: Area, 145 acres 2 roods 10 perches; capital value, £325 ; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £16 5s. ; half-yearly rent on lease, £7 6s. 3d.

Situated four miles from Timpany’s Siding by formed road passable at all times. Soil is of fair quality loam, on clay subsoil, with mossbanks here and there. Worked-out bush country, easily stumped. Water obtainable by sinking. Suitable for dairying or grazing.

Section 51 is weighted with £32, valuation for fencing.

Section 52 is weighted with £91 4s., valuation for cottage and fencing.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for License to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, 29th January, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for selection by discharged soldiers in terms of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christ-church, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 22nd March, 1920.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Wednesday, 24th March, 1920, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD - CLASS LAND.— NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.

Ashburton County.—Heron, Somers, and Alford Survey Districts.

RUN 115A (Clent Hills): Area, 30,100 acres; annual rent, £564.

About 8,000 acres flat and undulating, remainder very steep and broken hills. Altitude, 2,276 ft. to 7,248 ft. Well watered. Fair tussock feed on the lower slopesbut little or no vegetation on the high tops.

The improvements that go with the land comprise about thirty miles of boundary and subdivisional fences, and two huts, the total value of which is £1,273 9s. Access is by good road (which crosses the Ashburton River twice), twenty-three miles from Mount Somers Railway-station.
