to be Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, and Vaccination Inspector, for the district of Gabriel’s, on and from the 8th December, 1919.

Robert Cameron Galbraith

to be Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, and Vaccination Inspector, for the district of Paparoa, on and from the 17th December, 1919.

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, retirements, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force, and the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary Force to the N.Z. Staff Corps, N.Z. Permanent Staff, and Territorial Forces.

5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars).

Lieutenant Edgar Thomson Shand ceases to be attached for duty to the Staff of the Air Force Adviser, dated 5th January, 1920, and is demobilized. Dated 2nd February, 1920.

Sergeant Hilton Bravener Fowler to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 6th December, 1919.

N.Z. Garrison Artillery.

Lieutenant Benjamin John Ager to be Captain. Dated 3rd December, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Owen Vivian Davies relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Director of Dental Services, Otago Military District, and the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 15th December, 1919.

N.Z. Post and Telegraph Corps.

South Island Battalion.

Major William John Worthington ceases to be temporarily attached for duty to the North Island Battalion. Dated 21st November, 1919.

1st (Canterbury) Regiment.

Lieutenant Frank Roland Bushell to be Captain. Dated 3rd December, 1919.

Lieutenant Stuart James Sampson performed the duties of Area Officer, Group No. 9, Canterbury Military District, from 27th May, 1918, to 4th March, 1919, was attached to District Medical Headquarters from 5th March, 1919, to 19th November, 1919, and is demobilized from the latter date.

2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment.

Captain John Cecil Hill is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Major, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 21, of 1st July, 1919. Dated 1st December, 1919.

8th (Southland) Regiment.

Captain Hector Campbell MacKenzie, M.C., to be Major, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 39, of 22nd July, 1919. Dated 25th November, 1919.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated 25th November, 1919:—

William Francis Tracey, M.C., under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 39, of 22nd July, 1919.

N.Z. Medical Corps.

Colonel Tracy Russell Inglis, M.B., Melb., is appointed Assistant Director of Medical Services, Auckland Military District. Dated 9th December, 1919.

Lieutenant-Colonel Philip Oswald Andrew, O.B.E., M.R.C.S., relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Medical Services, Auckland Military District, dated 9th December, 1919, and is demobilized. Dated 3rd February, 1920.

N.Z. Dental Corps.

Lieutenant (temp. Major) Cecil George Gray relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Dental Services, and is appointed Administration Officer to the Director of Dental Services. Dated 26th November, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Robert Dixon Elliott, Principal Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp, is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 26th November, 1919.

The undermentioned Lieutenants (temp. Captains) relinquish their appointments in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps, and the temporary rank of Captain:—

Charles Eric Carter. Dated 5th January, 1919.

James Glendining, dated 5th September, 1919, and is demobilized. Dated 3rd October, 1919.

N.Z. Chaplains Department.

The Reverend Alexander Watson, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, to be Chaplain to the Forces, 3rd Class. Dated 27th June, 1917.

N.Z. Army Nursing Service.

Staff Nurse Nora Kathleen Dempsey to be Sister. Dated 1st October, 1919.

The surname of Louis Leslie Robinson, M.M., is as now described, and not “Louis Leslie Tallke, M.M.,” as stated in New Zealand Gazettes No. 62, of 22nd May, 1919, and No. 125, of 23rd October, 1919.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS (TEMPORARY).

Lieutenant Malcolm Scott Galloway, M.C., is appointed Vocation Officer, Wellington Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 4th November, 1919.

TRANSFERS.
