Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of
Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

Wellington, 28th July, 1919.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, resigna-
tions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the
Territorial Force, and the reposting of officers from the N.Z.
Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Colonel Joseph Cowie Nichols (D.), C.B.E., A.D.C., Com-
mander, Otago Mounted Rifles Brigade, relinquishes the
command, Otago Military District, dated 23rd July, 1919,
and is demobilized. Dated 20th August, 1919.

Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas William McDonald, N.Z. Staff
Corps, relinquishes the command (temp.), Wellington Mili-
tary District, and is appointed to command (temp.), Otago
Military District, with the temporary rank of Colonel.
Dated 23rd July, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Edward Arthur Wilson, N.Z.
Dental Corps, relinquishes his appointment at the Dental
Hospital, Trentham, and the temporary rank of Captain.
Dated 7th July, 1919.

Captain (temp.) Reginald Charles Tilley, Unattached List (b),
relinquishes the appointment of Remount Officer, and is
posted to the Reserve of Officers (Temporary). Dated
28th June, 1919.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Lieutenant Otira Opie, from the Regiment of Royal New
Zealand Artillery, to be Lieutenant, dated 17th November,
1914, with seniority next below Lieutenant Douglas Isaac
Charles Bryan. Dated 18th July, 1919.

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant Otira Opie is transferred to the N.Z. Staff Corps.
Dated 18th July, 1919.

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

Major Frederick Gorton is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers. Dated 6th June, 1919.

7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) John Carmichael Shand resigns his
commission. Dated 7th July, 1919.

12TH (OTAGO) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant John Smith Nelson, from the Unattached List (b),
to be Lieutenant. Dated 12th July, 1919.

CORPS.

North Island.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (temp.) to be Lieu-

(temp.). Dated 14th December, 1918.

below Lieutenant (temp.) James Neil Irvine.
Thomas Shankland. Dated 5th June, 1919.

15TH (NORTH AUCKLAND) REGIMENT.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35, of
20th March, 1919, relating to Captain Ernest Holmes Blundell
is cancelled, and the following substituted :—
Captain Ernest Holmes Blundell is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers. Dated 28th February, 1918.

N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE (EARL OF LIVERPOOL’S OWN),
(TERRITORIAL).

2nd Lieutenant Sydney Bragshaw Probert is transferred to
the Corps of N.Z. Engineers, N.Z. Post and Telegraph
Corps. Dated 8th July, 1919.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain Stanley Wilton Hogg, L.R.C.P. Edin., on ceasing to
perform duty with the corps, relinquishes his commission.
Dated 10th July, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

Sister Sarah Elizabeth Morley to be Charge Sister. Dated
23rd June, 1919.

The undermentioned are struck off the strength of the N.Z.
Expeditionary Force, and posted to the Temporary Reserve
List :—

Iris Schaw, for the words “Dated 6th June, 1919,” read
“Dated 9th June, 1919.”
