THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Hobson, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Tangiteroria Roads Loan.
NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Tangiteroria Riding taken on the 3rd day of July, 1919, on the proposal to borrow £3,500 for the formation and metalling of roads in the Tangiteroria Riding, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 26; against the proposal, 16.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Land Surveyors Examination, September, 1919, Australia and New Zealand.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Surveyors Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for licenses to survey, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 22nd September, 1919, at Wellington.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than noon on the 13th September, and that the examination fee of £1 1s. must be paid, at the same time, to the Secretary of the Board, from whom examination regulations, application forms, and other particulars may be obtained.
The amount of postage must also be remitted if plans and field-books are desired to be returned by post.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 17th September, 1919.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Thursday, the 18th September, 1919, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
The settlement is situated on the Taupo Road, Esk Valley, two miles and a half from Eskdale Post-office, five miles from Petane, and about twelve miles from Napier by first-class road. Consists of hilly, undulating, and flat country. Altitude, from 200 ft. to 1,000 ft.
The soil is of a dark loam on top of clay, the foundation of the country being papa rock. On the higher hills there is a little limestone shell rock, and on a few ridges some shingle is showing. Very little ploughing has been done, and the land generally is in good heart.
The land is watered by permanent streams and springs.
It is proposed to put a side station on the Napier-Gisborne Railway line, which will be within one mile of the property when completed.
IMPROVEMENTS.
The improvements which are not included in the price of the land, but which have to be paid for separately, are as follows :—
Section 3s.—Cottage and stable, valued at £280, which may be paid for in cash, or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £14 2s. 10d. over a term of fourteen years; total half-yearly payment on lease, £153 12s. 10d.
Section 5s.—Cottage, valued at £60, which may be paid for in cash, or by twenty half-yearly instalments of £3 17s. 9d. over a term of ten years; total half-yearly payment on lease, £95 0s. 3d.
Section 6s.—Cottage, valued at £150, which may be paid for in cash, or by twenty half-yearly instalments of £9 14s. 3d. over a term of ten years; total half-yearly payment on lease, £140 4s. 3d.
The improvements which go with the land, and the value of which is included in the capital value of the sections, comprise fencing and sheep-yards as follows: Section 1s, £160 18s. 9d.; Section 2s, £197 3s. 9d.; Section 3s, £134 7s. 6d.; Section 4s, £147 10s.; Section 5s, £124; Section 6s, £132 16s. 3d.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS.
The “right of way” shown on plan through 2s is in favour of the lessee of 1s, for any purpose other than that of driving stock thereover.
The fence marked A B is to be removed to the boundary C D by the lessees of Sections 5s and 6s, and when so removed shall be treated as an improvement effected by the said lessees.
