Public Holiday.—Peace Celebration.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred in this behalf by section 4 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, as amended by section 38 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1914, I have this day appointed

to be a member of the Board of Land Purchase Commissioners constituted under the Land for Settlements Act, 1909, for the period ending the 31st March, 1921.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Kawhia, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

COUNTY OF KAWHIA.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Awaroa Special Rating Area No. 2 taken on the 2nd day of July, 1919, on the proposal of the Kawhia County Council to borrow the sum of £150 for forming and widening the Awaroa-Mahoe Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 13, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 0.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Dated at Kawhia this 7th day of July, 1919.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Patangata, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL (PORANGAHAU RIDING).

In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and the Acts amending the same.

We, Leslie Harling McHardy, Chairman of the Patangata County Council, and James Wm. Elliott, Returning Officer for the said county, hereby give notice that on the 1st day of July, 1919, a poll of the ratepayers in the Porangahau Riding of the Patangata County was duly held and taken on the proposal of the Patangata County Council to raise a special loan of £4,000 for the following purpose: The reconstruction of the Porangahau traffic-bridge in the Porangahau Riding of the Patangata County.

At such poll the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 50; against the proposal, 18; majority for the proposal, 10.

Wherefore we declare the said proposal to be carried.

Dated this 8th day of July, 1919.

We, Leslie Harling McHardy, Chairman of the Patangata County Council, and James Wm. Elliott, Returning Officer for the said county, hereby give notice that on the 1st day of July, 1919, a poll of the ratepayers in the Patangata County was duly held and taken on the proposal of the Patangata County Council to raise a special loan of £12,000 for the following purposes:—

Council’s share of the re-erection of the Wai-pukurau traffic-bridge in reinforced concrete .. £ 3,000
Purchasing roadmaking plant, erecting buildings for housing plant, &c., and acquisition of land for a works site .. .. .. .. 9,000

£12,000

At such poll the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 153; against the proposal, 45; majority for the proposal, 34; informal, 2.

Wherefore we declare the said proposal to be carried.
