Purchase of Slips Wool by the Government.

WHEREAS by reason of the conditions created by the present war it is necessary that His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom should obtain further supplies of wool from New Zealand : And whereas by Proclamation of the 2nd day of December, 1918, all wool of the now continuing season’s clip in New Zealand, and also all other wool to be thereafter clipped in New Zealand at any time not later than one year after the 30th day of June, 1919, was requisitioned by and for the use of His Majesty on the terms and conditions set out in that Proclamation : And whereas it was provided by the said Proclamation that such requisition should not extend to slipes wool: And whereas it is necessary that supplies of slipes wool should be obtained by His Majesty on the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, it is hereby notified as follows for the information of all persons concerned :

The New Zealand Government (hereinafter referred to as “the Government”), acting for and on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom, is prepared to purchase from the freezing companies mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and in accordance with the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth, all slipes wool held by those companies on the 1st day of December, 1918, or thereafter produced by them at any time before the 30th day of June, 1920, save that all slipes wool which before the said 1st day of December, 1918, has been offered to the Government and valued by a Government valuer under the scheme of purchase set out in the gazetted notification of the 17th day of May, 1918, relative to the purchase of slipes wool, shall continue to be subject to the provisions of that scheme and not to the provisions herein contained; and save also that no slipes wool will be purchased from any freezing company except wool which is the product of stock slaughtered by that company.
