Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, N.Z. Army Pay Department, and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, N.Z. Army Ordnance Department, and Territorial Force, and the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary Force to the N.Z. Staff Corps, Royal New Zealand Artillery, and Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Captain (Lieutenant-Colonel, temp.) Duncan Barrie Blair, D.S.O., M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Camp Commandant, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 1st June, 1919.
Major (temp.) Daniel James Sweetzer relinquishes the appointment of Camp Commandant, Trentham Military Camp, and the temporary rank of Major in the N.Z. Military Forces. Dated 30th June, 1919.
Captain (temp.) David Cecil Wallace Cossgrove, N.Z. Permanent Staff, relinquishes the appointment of Director of Recruiting and the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 31st March, 1919.
Captain Alexander Smith Falconer, D.S.O., M.C., Reserve of Officers (temp.), is attached for duty at General Headquarters. Dated 26th June, 1919.
Lieutenant Leonard George Goss, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Camp Adjutant, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 1st June, 1919.
Lieutenant Edward Arthur Wilson, N.Z. Dental Corps, is appointed for duty at the Dental Hospital, Trentham, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 9th June, 1919.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT.

Captain George John Parrell, Ordnance Officer, 3rd Class, is retired, under the provisions of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 30th September, 1919.

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

Major Frederick Gorton is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 6th June, 1919.

3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain Bertram Lush resigns his commission. Dated 4th June, 1919.

7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) James L. Watson resigns his commission. Dated 4th June, 1919.

N.Z. GARRISON ARTILLERY.

Auckland G.A. Division.

Lieutenant William Roberts ceases to be attached for duty with the Regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery. Dated 27th June, 1919.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 107, of 21st September, 1918, relating to Lieutenant William Roberts, N.Z. Garrison Artillery, appointed Adjutant (temp.), Auckland G.A. Division, add the words “Dated 10th July, 1916.”

No. 2 Company.

The undermentioned are transferred to the Reserve of Officers:—

Captain James Henderson Crawford. Dated 3rd June, 1919.

Lieutenant John Charles Braithwaite. Dated 4th June, 1919.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

No. 3 Field Company.

Lieutenant Harold Lincoln Slyfield is retired, under the provisions of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 26th May, 1919.

N.Z. Railway Battalions.

Colonel Ernest Haviland Hiley relinquishes the appointment of Director of Railway Transport, and is posted to the Retired List with the honorary rank of Colonel. Dated 18th June, 1919.

N.Z. POST AND TELEGRAPH CORPS.

North Island.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Charles Murray Thompson resigns his commission. Dated 4th June, 1919.

1ST (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 51, of the 24th April, 1919, relating to Captain F. P. O. Smith promoted to rank of Major, for the words “Dated 6th July, 1918,” read “Dated 3rd November, 1918.”

3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Captain Cedric Arthur Herman to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 26th May, 1919.

Lieutenant Hugh Price Rainger Caughey to be Captain. Dated 26th July, 1919.

5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.

Captain Henry Hawthorn (Reserve of Officers) resigns his commission. Dated 4th June, 1919.

9TH (HAWKE’S BAY) REGIMENT.

Major Thomas Haslett Ringland is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 3rd June, 1919.

Lieutenant Ernest Goying Loten resigns his commission. Dated 3rd June, 1919.

17TH (RUAHINE) REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant David Charles Collins resigns his commission. Dated 5th June, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.—AUCKLAND.

The undermentioned to be Captains, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 22nd August, 1918:—

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain William Cuthbert McCaw, M.B., is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst employed as Specialist in Military Surgery. Dated 29th May, 1919.

Major William Edward Redman, M.R.C.S. Eng., performed the duties of a Medical Officer in a N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camp from 15th October, 1918, to 11th July, 1919.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend Robert James Stanton, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, performed the duties of a Chaplain in a N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camp from 19th September, 1918, to 4th July, 1919.

The commission granted the Reverend James Morland, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is cancelled, under the provisions of section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 11th June, 1919.

The Reverend Arthur Alfred Bensley, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, performed the duties of a Chaplain in a N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camp from 11th April, 1919, to 10th June, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

The various notices published in the New Zealand Gazettes relating to the posting to the Retired List of the undermentioned are cancelled, and the following substituted:—
