PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—NORFOLK DOWNS
METALLING LOAN, 10 PER CENT. ADDITIONAL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it
in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
the Piako County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the payment of interest,
sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of one hundred
pounds, authorized to be raised by the Piako County Council,
under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of
completing the metalling of Harbottles Road for the first time,
the Piako County Council hereby makes and levies a special
rate of one-eighth of a penny in the pound sterling on the
rateable value of all rateable property of the Norfolk Downs
Special Rating Area, as gazetted on page 369 of the New
Zealand Gazette, 1918, in connection with the original loan.
Such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during
the currency of such loan, and shall be payable yearly on
the first day of April in each and every year during the
currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until
the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed
at a meeting of the Piako County Council held on the
sixteenth day of June, 1919.

KAWHIA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the
Kawhia County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in
respect of principal and interest and also the other charges
on a loan of £200, authorized to be raised by the Kawhia
County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
for the purpose of metalling portions of the Oparau to Oparau
Ferry Road for the first time, the said Kawhia County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of twopence three-
farthings (2¾d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all
rateable property of the Oparau Special Rating Area, com-
prising all that area in the County of Kawhia contained
within the following boundaries,—
Commencing at the westernmost corner of Pirongia West
No. 1 Section 2D ; towards the north generally by the Oparau
River to its confluence with the Okupata Stream ; thence
towards the north generally by the said Okupata Stream
to the north-eastern corner of Waihinu No. 1, Sec. 2E ;
towards the east by Rotoiti No. 1 Sec. 2F ; towards the south
by Pirongia West No. 1B No. 2 Sec. 2, Crown land, and
No. 1B ; thence towards the south generally by the Kawhia-
Pirongia Road to the point of commencement.
And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate
during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on
the 17th day of August in each and every year during the
currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half
years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
passed by the Kawhia County Council at a meeting of the
said Council held on the 14th day of June, 1919.

RESOLUTION.
THE following regulations were laid before the members
of the Manawatu Hunt Club at a meeting held on
the 1st day of March, 1919, at Palmerston North, with a
recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. S. R.
Lancaster, that the same be passed at once with a view to
their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the
Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. S. R. Lancaster, the Chairman of the Club and the
Meeting, moved, and Mr. J. Crook seconded, and it was
resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that
the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication
thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to :—
MANAWATU HUNT CLUB.
REGULATIONS.
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf con-
tained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all
other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the
Manawatu Hunt Club, a racing club within the meaning of
the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth
hereby revoke the regulations dated the 13th day of October,
1917, and doth hereby make the following regulations
controlling the admission of persons to that part of the
Manawatu Racing Club’s course situated in the district of
Palmerston North, and known as the Awapuni Racecourse,
while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club
for race meetings.

These regulations shall come into force on the date of
the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. -
In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing
club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed
to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, -
The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
from the racecourse above described while the same is used
or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—
(a.) Bookmakers.
(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-
makers’ agents.
(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any
racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New
Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or else-
where, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Con-
ference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association,
or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually con-
sort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful
visible means of support.
(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreak-
ing or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing
counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving
stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or
crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908 ; and
also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vaga-
bonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the
Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of
an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.
The foregoing regulations of the Manawatu Hunt Club were
made and passed by the Manawatu Hunt Club on the 1st day
of March, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1908, and their amendments.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of
Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the
above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling
it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely,
the widening of Clarence Street of the City of Wellington ;
and for the purpose of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken.
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land
so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the
Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba
Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection
(without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours :
and that all persons affected by the execution of the said
public work or the taking of such lands should, if they have
well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public
work or to the taking of the said lands, set forth the same
in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from
the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City
Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.
