SCHEDULE.
AREA TO BE INCLUDED IN WAITOA DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded commencing at a point on the right bank of the Waitoa River at the crossing of the Thames-Waikato Road, and following that road to its junction with the Waitoa-Matamata Road; thence along that road on its eastern side in a southerly direction to a point where it touches the Auckland-Rotorua Railway line; thence following that railway-line to the Waitoa Stream, and across the said Waitoa Stream to the Mangapapa Stream; thence to and by that stream to the northern boundary-line of Section 27, Richmond Downs Estate, as shown on Land Transfer plan No. 7252, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, to the Walton-Waharoa Road, and across the said road to and by the north-eastern boundary of Section 6 as shown on Land Transfer plan No. 64, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, to and by the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Section 3 as shown on Land Transfer plan No. 7186, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, to the south boundary of Section F 2 of Pakarau Pa Block; thence following the south-east and north-west boundaries of that section to and by the north-eastern boundary of Section 19s, Pakarau Settlement, as shown on Land Transfer plan No. 8307, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, by the eastern boundaries of Sections 20s and 21s of the said settlement as shown on the said Land Transfer plan No. 8307, deposited as aforementioned, and the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section to a public road; thence along that road to its junction with the Morrinsville-Kerihoni Road; towards the east generally by the south-east boundary of the Waitoa Drainage District as described in the New Zealand Gazette dated the 2nd day of December, 1915, page 3950, to the Waitoa River, and along the right bank of the said river to the crossing of the Thames-Waikato River to the point of commencement.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops (other than Pork-butchers’ Shops) in the Borough of Palmerston North, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the Borough of Palmerston North, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5 p.m., and on Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following exceptions — (1) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such shop shall be 5 p.m., and on Friday shall be 6 p.m.; (3) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any of the special days therein mentioned, other than Wednesday, as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such shop in that week shall be 5 p.m., and should such special day fall on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday for any such shop shall be 6 p.m.:
And whereas the Palmerston North Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) within the Borough of Palmerston North:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, on and after the 18th day of June, 1919, all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the Borough of Palmerston North shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 7th day of May, 1908, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Glendowie Road and Cliff Road, in the Town of St. Helier’s Extension No. 31, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Kowai County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Kowai was taken on the 23rd day of May, 1919, on the proposal of the Kowai County Council to borrow the sum of £3,300 for purchase of road machinery and erection of Council Chambers and office.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 232, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 42. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Amending Regulations for the Examination of Masters and Mates.

WHEREAS by warrant dated the 19th day of September, 1918, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 133, of the 26th day of the same month, rules were made for the conduct of examinations of masters and mates:
And whereas it is desirable to amend the said regulations in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section 23 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I do hereby revoke Appendix A of the said regulations of the 19th day of September, 1918, and do hereby substitute the following as Appendix A in lieu thereof:—

EXAMINATION DAYS.—MASTERS’ AND MATES’ CERTIFICATES.
For Foreign-going Candidates.
Auckland . . First Monday in every month.
Wellington . . First Monday in every month.
Lyttelton . . Second Monday or Tuesday in every month.
Dunedin . . Third Monday or Tuesday in every month.
For all other Grades.
Auckland . . Second and fourth Mondays in every month.
Wellington . . Second and fourth Mondays in every month.
Lyttelton . . Second Monday or Tuesday in every month.
Dunedin . . Third Monday or Tuesday in every month.
Intending candidates at Lyttelton and Dunedin must make application to be examined not later than the Friday previous to the examination in every month, and ascertain from the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine the day on which the examination will commence.
