any public reserve vested in His Majesty or the Governor-General, for any of the purposes comprised in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, to change the purpose for which such reserve was set apart to any other purpose:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was heretofore duly set apart for a rifle range, being a purpose within Class II in the Second Schedule to the said Act, and it is expedient to change, as hereinafter provided, the purpose for which such reserve was so set apart:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section six of the said Act as aforesaid, declare that the purpose of the said reserve is hereby changed from a rifle range to a site for a prison. And I do hereby further declare that this notice is issued subject to the provisions of section seven of the said Act, and shall take effect according to the provisions of that section.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 362 acres 1 rood 27 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections 96, 100, 104, 108, 105, 106, and 206, Hutt Registration District, situate in Block I, Rimutaka Survey District, commencing at a point on the southern side of the Wellington-Napier Railway line being the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Block I, Rimutaka Survey District, a school-site, and bounded towards the north and east generally by the railway-line aforesaid, 252·55 links; by parts of Sections 96, 100, 104, 206, 108, and 106, 1087, 1547·19, 699·68, 1554·4, 1491·83, 609·58, 1597·02, 1442·03, 4290·44, and 2628·51 links; towards the south by parts of Sections 106, 105, and 206, 5396·16 links; towards the west generally by part of Section 206, 420·35, 2508·71, 2386·63, and 1085·6 links; by Section 101, 1999·71 links; by Section 97, 43·62 and 10 links; and by part Section 100, 246·58 and 7·1 links; and by Section 3, Block I, Rimutaka Survey District, a school-site, 1093·6 links, to the place of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 46739, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland, Nelson, and Southland Land Districts.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland, Nelson, and Southland Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 0 roods 17·4 perches, more or less, being Sections 6 and 7, Block I, Kaihere Village. Bounded towards the north-west by the Ngarua Road, 435·06 and 265·58 links; on the north-east by Section 8, Block I, Kaihere Village, 404·73 links; towards the south-east and south-west by river-bank reserve along the Ngarua Stream, 209·42, 246·3, 255·42, and 282·52 links respectively; and towards the west by Section 5, Block I of the aforesaid village, 410·34 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/652, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan 18151, blue.) For a public recreation-ground.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 0 roods 38 perches, more or less, and being Sections 25, 33, 41, 42, 43, 44, 52, 53, 54, 55, Township of Mokihinui, and two parts of Section 160. Bounded towards the north-east by Sections 15 and 16, 288 links; towards the south-east by Batty Street, Sections 26 and 34, Hector Street, and Sections 45 and 56, 840 links; towards the south-west by Lewis Street, 378 links; towards the north-west by part of Section 160, 420 links; again towards the north-east, north-west, and south-west by Section 24, 278, 320, and 278 links respectively; and again towards the north-west by part of Section 160, 134·5 links: all situated in Mokihinui Township: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/635, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For public-recreation purposes.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods 14 perches, more or less, being Section 6, Otahu Settlement, Block IV, Waiau Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a public road, 823·2 links; towards the east by Sections 3 and 4, Otahu Settlement, Block IV aforesaid, 800 links; towards the south again by the aforesaid Section 4, Otahu Settlement, Block IV aforesaid, 574·3 links; and towards the south-west by a public road, 838 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/204, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For a site for a public school.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Waipukurau Borough Council.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Waipukurau Borough Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be three years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE.

TUKITUKI RIVER SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 22 acres 0 roods 32 perches, more or less, being Section 18, Block XIV, Waipukurau Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Scenic Road, 933·3 links, and by Section 19, Block XIV aforesaid, 1643·6 links; towards the south and west generally by the left bank of the Tukituki River to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 470, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this thirtieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
