on the proposal of the Stratford Borough Council to borrow
the sum of £7,000. for the following purposes—namely,
to provide additions and extensions to the electric-lighting
and power works, either within'or without the borough, and to
supply electricity, and in connection with such additions and
extensions to purchase or otherwise acquire all such engines,
machinery, poles, lines, plant, equipment, materials, and
other things, and to erect all such buildings as may be con-
sidered necessary, to make alterations and additions to the
power-houses, and extensions of the transmission and distri-
bution main lines, and any other purposes incidental or in
relation to any of the above purposes—the number of votes
recorded for the proposal was 244, and the number of votes
recorded against the proposal was 65; informal votes, nil.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the Wairau Riding, in the Otamatea County, was taken on
the 23rd day of April, 1919, on the proposal of the Otamatea
County Council to borrow the sum of £4,500 for metalling
and general improvement of roads in the Wairau Riding.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 82, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 17;
informal vote, 1.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Mangaone Riding of the County of Kairanga taken on the
24th day of April, 1919, on the proposal of the Kairanga
County Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of
renewing culverts and bridges in the riding, the number of
votes recorded for the proposal was 62, and the number of
votes recorded against the proposal was 12.
I therefore declared that the proposal was carried.

TUMU-KAITUNA LAND DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
Notice of Result of Poll to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the
Tumu-Kaituna Land Drainage District was taken on the
5th day of March, 1919, on the proposal of the Tumu-Kai-
tuna Land Drainage Board to borrow the sum on £3,500 for
widening and deepening drains, making new drains, erecting
flood-gates, paying Engineer’s charges, interest, and sinking
fund for the first year, and cost of raising loan.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 18, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1.
The number of informal votes was 1.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Receiving Home, New Street, Ponsonby, Auckland (an
industrial school within the meaning of the Industrial Schools
Act, 1908), to be a Receiving Home for children, and have
approved of CAROLINE JULIA BROOKE as Manager in Charge
of the Home.

for children, and have approved of FREDERICK SAMUEL SHELL,
a Juvenile Probation Officer, as Officer in Charge of the Home.
