New County of Uawa divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Uawa County Act, 1918, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Uawa, as constituted by the said Acts, into five ridings, to be called the Tolaga Riding, the Hauiti Riding, the Arakihi Riding, the Tauwhareparae Riding, and the Mangatuna Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

And I do hereby declare that one member shall be elected for the Tolaga Riding, one member for the Hauiti Riding, two members for the Arakihi Riding, two members for the Tauwhareparae Riding, and one member for the Mangatuna Riding. And I do further declare that Wednesday, the fourteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, shall be the day upon which the election of the Council of the said County of Uawa shall take place; and Wednesday, the twenty-eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, shall be the time, and Reynold’s Hall at Tolaga Bay shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.

SCHEDULE.

TOLAGA RIDING.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Mangatuna Riding hereinafter described from the Uawa River to the sea; thence towards the east, south, and west generally by the sea and Uawa River to the place of commencement.

HAUITI RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north-west generally by the Arakihi Riding hereinafter described from the Pukarae River to the Uawa River; thence towards the north generally by the Uawa River and the sea; towards the east generally by the sea to the northern boundary of Cook County; and towards the south and south-west generally by Cook County to the place of commencement.

ARAKIHI RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Tauwhareparae Riding hereinafter described from the westernmost corner of the Small Grazing-run 42A to the Mangaheia River; thence by that river and the Uawa River to a point in line with the western boundary of Paremeta No. 4 Block; thence to and by the western boundary of that block, the north-eastern, north-western, and south-western boundaries of Section 54, the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 57, 58, 59, and 60, part of the north-eastern, the south-eastern, and south-western boundaries of Mangaheia No. 1 No. H Block, the southern boundary of Mangaheia No. 1 No. C Block, and the south-eastern boundary of Mangaheia No. 1 No. F Block to the Cook County boundary; thence towards the south and west generally by the Cook and Waikohu Counties to the place of commencement.

TAUWHAREPARAE RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north-west, north, and north-east generally by the Waiapu County, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1918, page 3869, from the north-eastern boundary of Waikohu County to the Rimututahi Trig. Station; thence by the south-western boundary of Section 4, Block I, Uawa Survey District, the south-western and southern boundaries of Small Grazing-run 46, the western boundary of Paomahaki Block, and the western and eastern boundaries of Mangatokerau No. F Block to the southern boundary of No. C Block; thence by the southern boundary of No. C Block, the western boundaries of Mangaheia No. 2, Subdivisions 2, 3, D, and 5, to the Mangaheia River; thence towards the south generally by that river, the southern boundary of Section 3, the southern and western boundaries of Small Grazing-run 88, part of the western boundary of Section 2, the southern boundary of Small Grazing-run 87, and the northern and western boundaries of Small Grazing-run 42A to the Waikohu County boundary; and towards the west generally by that boundary to the place of commencement.

MANGATUNA RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Waiapu County from Rimututahi Trig. Station to the sea; thence towards the east generally by the sea to the southern boundary of Uawa Block; and towards the south generally by the Uawa Block
