CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Pastoral Lands classified in Canterbury Land District.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Commissioners appointed to classify and report upon land in the Canterbury Land District have classified the pastoral runs in the Schedule hereto as therein noted, and the classification has been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General under section 225 of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.

Class A.—Pastoral Lands.

Being Lands suitable exclusively for Pasturage and not capable of being used with Profit in Areas of a Carrying-capacity of less than 5,000 Sheep.

Runs 115 and 203, Clent Hills, Ashburton County, containing 52,600 acres and 1,500 acres respectively.

Land in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 23rd April, 1919.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections will be offered for sale by public auction at the Gretna Hall, Taihape, on Tuesday, the 24th June, 1919, at 10.30 a.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and amendments.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—VILLAGE LAND.

Town District of Hunter ville.—Hunter ville Village.

Sections 87 and 224: Area, 7 acres 0 roods 28 perches; upset price, £130.

Weighted with £264, valuation for improvements.

Situated in Hunter ville Village Settlement. All in grass; a small portion along the road frontage is flat, the remainder comprises fairly steep faces. Permanently watered by creek. The improvements comprise seven-roomed house, cow-shed, three other sheds, fencing, orchard, felling and grassing; the whole valued at £264.

TERMS OF SALE.

The purchaser may pay for the land in cash or by deferred payments extending over a period of nineteen years. The terms are—

(1.) Cash.—One-fifth of the purchase-money on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1), within thirty days thereafter.

(2.) Deferred Payments.—Five per cent. of the purchase-money and license fee (£1 ls.) on the fall of the hammer, balance by equal annual instalments extending over nineteen years, with interest payable half-yearly at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum on the unpaid purchase-money; but with the right to pay off at any time the whole or any part of the outstanding amount.

Title will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1908.

Settlement Land in Southland Land District open for Selection.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 31st March, 1919.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be opened for selection on renewable lease under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, 30th April, 1919.

Applicants will have to appear personally before the Land Board for examination at this office on Thursday, 1st May, 1919, at 11 o’clock a.m.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND COUNTY.

Hokonui Survey District.—Ardlussa Settlement.—Mixed Agricultural and Pastoral Land.

SECTION 1: Area, 5,031 acres 1 rood 6 perches; capital value, £2,800; half-yearly rent, £63.

Open undulating to hilly agricultural and pastoral land. Subdivided into four paddocks, the eastern boundary being unfenced. About 700 acres are ploughable; the balance is hilly tussock country. Elevation from 720 ft. to 2,050 ft. Well watered by permanent streams.

The improvements which go with this section are as follows: 938 chains of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £293.

Ardlussa Settlement is situated from six miles to ten miles and three-quarters from Balfour Railway-station on the Gore-Lumsden line.

Small Grazing-runs in Canterbury Land District for Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 1st March, 1919.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for lease to discharged soldiers under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 27th May, 1919.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Thursday, 29th May, 1919, at 10 o’clock a.m., to answer any questions the Board may ask.

The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Oxford County.—Esk and Upper Ashley Survey Districts.—Snowdale Runs.—National Endowment.

Sections 36843 and 36846: Area, 12,023 acres; annual rental, £113.

All rough and broken pastoral country, with the exception of the Lilburn and Whistler Spurs, which carry fair tussock feed. Well watered. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 5,322 ft. With this section is included Section 36846 for a homestead-site. This latter is mostly somewhat stony flats in native grass, and has good sheep-yards on it. Access is by Ashley Gorge Road, about seventeen miles from Oxford.

Section 36844: Area, 7,670 acres; annual rental, £164.

The northern portion is steep broken country, with patches of inferior birch bush and very little feed. South of the Lilburn Creek there are lower spurs and slopes carrying fair tussock feed. Well watered. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 4,585 ft. Access is by Ashley Gorge Road seventeen miles, and by unformed road five miles.

Section 36845: Area, 15,300 acres; annual rental, £260.

About 1,000 acres flat, and about 3,000 acres undulating country, in tussock and other native grasses, the remainder very rough and broken country with patches of inferior birch bush. Well watered. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 6,347 ft. Access is by Ashley Gorge Road seventeen miles, and by unformed road one mile and a half.

The improvements that go with the land are as follows:—

Sections 36843 and 36846, 223 chains of fencing, and good sheep-yards. Section 36844, 181 chains of fencing. Section 36845, a stone hut valued at £105, and 674 chains of fencing. Some of the above fences, though on the east side of the Whistler River, and not actually on the sections, are recognized as the boundary fences between these sections and Lees Valley Block.

The lessee of Section 11, Lees Valley Settlement, has recently erected a substantial fence on the boundary between that section and Sections 36843 and 36844 at a cost of about £137, and the successful applicant must arrange with him about payment for their proportionate share, or interest thereon.
