THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Law Amendment Act, 1918, do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of April, 1919, all hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ shops in the City of Wellington which close for the statutory half-holiday on Friday in certain weeks pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, shall be closed in the evening of working-days of those weeks as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 7 p.m., on Thursdays at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 p.m.

The notice gazetted the 18th day of July, 1918, is hereby amended accordingly.

OTOROHANGA TOWN BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Otorohanga Town District was taken on the 31st day of October, 1918, on the proposal of the Otorohanga Town Board to borrow the sum of £2,900 (two thousand nine hundred pounds) for the purpose of kerbing and channelling portions or parts of various streets as duly specified.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 38, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

ELTHAM COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Fraser Road Special Rating Area, in the County of Eltham, taken on the 26th day of March, 1919, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £4,000 for the purpose of metalling Fraser Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 13, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 19.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the South Waihekau Special Rating Area, Hungahunga Drainage District, taken on the 27th day of March, 1919, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £5,000 for land-drainage works, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 40, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, public notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Taumarunui was taken on the 2nd day of April, 1919, on proposals to raise loans for the following purposes:—

(a.) Electric light and power .. .. .. £ 15,000
(b.) Technical school endowment, conversion of hypothecated debentures, municipal land acquisition, and stone-crusher .. .. 10,560
(c.) Remaking main road, formation of streets and footpaths (whole borough), road-making plant, and engineering and contingencies.. 18,140
(d.) Conversion of petrol-gas plant to coal-gas .. 6,000
(e.) River-bank section acquisition .. .. 300
(f.) River-bank protection-works .. .. 1,000

(a.) Proposal for electric light and power, £15,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 80; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 118; majority against the proposal, 38.

(b.) Proposal for technical school endowment, &c., £10,560: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 89; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 102; majority against the proposal, 13.

(c.) Proposal for remaking main road, &c., £18,140: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 79; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 119; majority against the proposal, 40.

(d.) Proposal for conversion of gas plant, £6,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 65; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 131; majority against the proposal, 66.

(e.) Proposal for river-bank section, £300: The total number of votes for the proposal, 87; the total number of votes against the proposal, 108; majority against the proposal, 21.

(f.) Proposal for river-bank protection-works, £1,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 80; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 114; majority against the proposal, 34.

The majority of votes being against the proposals, I therefore declare the said proposals lost.

Exportation of Rabbit-skins to British Possessions and the United States of America.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 9th April, 1919.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Minister of Customs has granted general permission for the exportation of rabbit-skins to British possessions and the United States of America.

No application or permit will in future be required.

It should be understood that this general permit may at any time be withdrawn.

Applications to export rabbit-skins to other destinations should be sent to this office.

NOTE.—This general permit does not obviate the necessity of obtaining any license for importation that may be required at destination.
