Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations, New Zealand Forces,
amended.—Pay and Allowances of New Zealand Staff Corps, Royal
New Zealand Artillery, New Zealand Permanent Staff, New Zealand
Army Ordnance Corps, and New Zealand Army Pay Corps.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred
on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke certain regulations
made under that Act and shown in the Schedule hereto, and do hereby
substitute therefor the regulations shown in the said Schedule; and
I do hereby declare that such revocation shall take effect and such
regulations come into force as from the first day of January, one
thousand nine hundred and nineteen, except that the rates of pay
prescribed in regulations seventy-five and seventy-eight to eighty-
one shall be paid as from the first day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and eighteen, and that the rates prescribed in regulation
eighty-two shall be paid as from the first day of February, one
thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATIONS 75 to 101 (both inclusive), 111 to 121 (both inclusive), 160, and
268 to 270 (both inclusive) of the Financial Instructions and Allowance Regula-
tions are hereby revoked, and the following substituted in lieu thereof:

  1. (a.) The following shall be the consolidated rates of pay (including all
    allowances except as prescribed in Regulations 111 to 121) for officers of the New
    Zealand Permanent Force:

(a) £1,100 per annum, rising to £1,200 after one year. (b) £900 per annum, rising to £1,000
after two years.

(b.) Notwithstanding anything outlined in the above regulation the emolu-
ments of an officer already in receipt of more than the rate so prescribed shall
not be reduced.

  1. Temporary rank will carry the pay and allowances of substantive rank,
    and the increments thereof, excepting where the service in temporary rank is
    broken for periods of three months and over. An officer granted temporary
    rank can only retain that rank for the period during which he is actually
    performing the duties for which it was granted. An officer temporarily ap-
    pointed to any specified duty will relinquish that appointment as soon as he
    ceases to perform that duty.

  2. Where an officer is occupying free quarters he will be required to pay
    back to the Public Account £50 per annum or such other amount as may be
    determined by the General Officer Commanding.

  3. The following shall be the annual rates of pay for warrant officers
    and non-commissioned officers of the New Zealand Permanent Staff:

Warrant officer, Class 1 (after three years as warrant £

Warrant officer, Class 2 (after three years as staff 216
sergeant-major)
Staff sergeant-major (after three years as staff 206

Group and regimental quartermaster-sergeants will receive rates of pay as
above.
